Since some people didn't approve of the green background in my previous pics, I decided to use the same background with my new bike. :)

The black and white can get old and bland after a while but I just couldn't find myself liking the green and blue. I see what you were trying to do with the color combo's, but I personally ont think it works well. The blue bar tape and cage has to go (respectively IMO of course). I would go with white bar tape if you are going to keep the white saddle. Those aren't rival brake calipers are they? I think black brake calipers would look better. The green "k" series SLK crankset might go nicely with that.

OBVIOUSLY, all and any suggestions on what to buy or replace your items with to make it hot are based on my personal opinions and what your financial ability to spend extra money on your bike. I for one cant go out to buy "Hot" accessories to add to my bike just because someone suggests it.

There has only been 1 supersix in the green and blue combo I have seen that REALLY blows me away...(Yes I know it is a different year supersix with a little bit different design color wise)

Yes, this works. Hot!

NOT!
just got a 'new to me' '09 Tarmac Expert, in very nice condition - I Luv it! - except the compact handlebars :crash:

roadbars should allow you to be in a number of different 'positions', but with these compact bars, whether you're on tops/bends/hoods or drops the position all feels the same :(

Yeah my current ride is compact geo. The drop is not too extreme, but I still have room to slam the stem in the future if I want to get lower. It feels fine as-is.

Hot.
I think the flat black is the only tolerable (for me) finish on the new Shimano cranks. Their silver cranks just looks to "blobby" and clunky for my taste. Like someone spilled mercury on the crank. I far prefer open web type cranks aesthetically. Still, the black one looks really sharp on your bike. To my eye, a white saddle with black would be just right.

Thanks. Sorry for the poor pic angle. The saddle actually has a white accent stripe on it so it doesn't completely clash with the white bar tape. Here's a better shot of it. But perhaps I should get the white saddle with the black stripe. Hmmm...

aw man you got the valve stems and gear selection in the right place, but the crank angle is wrong! :p

It's HOT anyway tho. :thumb:

Ohh. Nice.
In the spirit of senseless nitpicking, if the black/white of the saddle was inverted, it would match the stem/bars better, but hey, that's really nitpicky ;)

Can't believe I'm saying this, but I actually like that BMC. Something about the lines of that bike and the Di2 looks really right. Also like the refreshing lack of crazy deep section wheels.

I've got most of the bikes in this thread in a dropbox folder that I use as the source for the screen saver on all of my Macs. This one is is going right in there with the rest.
I love the gumwall look, too bad on two rides with the Vittoria tires I flatted three times. Now the Vittoria's are relegated to racing only.

I've asked them to make a tubeless gumwall version so I can have that awesome look while training.

Didn't want this thread to get any quieter, so I'll offer up my ride on the altar of critique.

Oh, ps. Yes, I know, I know. Hang on... Here it is on the drive side, large chain ring, oh, what else did I miss... :)

15.2 lbs with pedals...

sbxx1985 12-07-12 01:22 PM

Flip it.

valve stems pointing down, crank arm aligned with chain stay. :)

I'm calling it a Hot anyway, except not too big on the tires. I need to get some bottle cages like that for my Felt.

Yeah, I know. I just didn't flip it for the photo. There's enough drop like it is, (not sure why, it's a 60cm bike) for my flexibility. Need to hit some more yoga classes first... Or just flip it to shoot it. ;)

Thanks, Patrick!

I have been babysitting this '85 Raleigh for a buddy while he contemplates selling it. Fun ride. I've totally overhauled the bike and it runs smooth as silk.
So, here's a retro ride for your tomatoes and/or admiration ;)

Yes, I know you posted the updated one, but this still has to be said.

Not a brand-name bike but still high quality and weighs less than 16 pounds...

BillyD 12-08-12 05:03 PM

Oh wow, somebody's getting a whole garage door for Christmas. I'm thinking that's going to be a bit of a challenge to keep a surprise, however.
