It's still a work in progress and I know I'm not going to get a lot of love for the wheels, but I love it and it's a touch more unique than the endless Giant's, Spec's and Trek's out there! Cranks and tires are next on the 'I want to change' list. I also need to add some links to the chain.

Not feelin' that frame at all - weird undulations here and there, that webbing between the seat tube and seat stays... maybe it translates better in person, but it's not doing it from this angle.

One of the gumwalls got slashed so put on the tires that came with it. I think I like it.

Have to disagree. That frame is doing nothing for me. I prefer the Trek's and Giants.

Have to disagree. While I dislike the wiggly seat stays, I think the Merckx is interesting and inventive - a nice change of pace from the run-of-the-mill. I kinda like the webbed seat stay/seat tube intersection. And while I'm not keen on the giant rims, combined with the bright spokes and their conventional lacing, I'm kinda diggin' the wheels after all.
It's not the camera that makes it look like a lump of coal, it's the finish. Frankly, I think it looks better when it comes out gray. |

Sorry if I came across kind of rough. Nice looking ride. |
A bit more conventional than some of the recent posts. Zero miles on it since build, winter continues here. Still playing with saddle/bar position.

http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...N/IMG_1290.jpg I never thought it was attractive, but it seems like whenever I see this bike, it's being ridden by some solid, confident, quietly accomplished rider. |

-1 ugly cranks/chain rings -1 ugly water bottle cages -1 bar angle/hoods look way off I'd rather not try it. |
What's wrong with the handlebar setup? It looks pretty much perfect for that type of handlebar. Shifters could be slightly lower but are within the normal range.

The shifters are at that position for better climbing. Try it, you may find it beneficial.

Justify it all you want, it is ugly like that.
I mean, hot is hot and practical is practical... and if one can't be hot because one can't let go of practical, well welcome to normaldom. It's perfectly ok. It's just not hot. |
