Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

We're organising a raiding party in our office right now to catch the Spewcat over to Lonny for Easter and crash in the bush with a digital camera and some rotten meat on a pole.....

I'll post the pics next week while I'm counting my mill.....

But at least tomorrow is the long weekend, looking forward to getting out for a ride at some stage and run as well maybe. Just need the weather to improve a bit.

Got Easter plans?
Weather has been sunny in Sydney all day with light winds, so there should be some sunny weather for you over the weekend, I'm sure.

As for Easter plans, well nothing special. Tomorrow I'll be scouring the coast for a decent place to do short intervals, and fitting an hour's worth of the suckers in as well (oh the pain!). Saturday local coffee run, 3 hour ride on Sunday, then race on Monday.

Oh yeah, and spend some time with the family too!

I'll be up your way over the next couple of weekends (school holidays), so it might be time to go for a bash with you and Expat.

Yeah that would be good. Have hit out on the MTB at Glenrock or maybe a bit of a road trip somewhere?

I'd reckon that Expat would want to have an OTB competition! But I'll have my roady on the back of the car anyway so I can go with either. I'm up for either, and you guys have a week to get organised

Mmm....ADA wheels. Were pure horn back in 96 and still are.

Just scoping Landis's BMC on cyclingnews.com. Those dimpled Zipps are the shizzle.

huh...you should worry!......I've busted the 486!....was cleaning her up after the masters & discovered a crack under the BB...then another one at the back of the BB where the derailuer wire thingy comes out....this can't be good news!.....dropping into the Freedom machine on saturday morning to get it looked at (seeing as SBR went belly up, the distributor told me to take it there)...woe is me!...still on the brighter side, if they decide to replace it, the 05 model is 400ms lighter than mine!

WHAAAAAATTT????!!!?! FAAAAAAAAARKKK!

How the "firetruck" did that happen?

That's why you really need a warranty: nobody can afford to bust a $5000 frame, and say, "oh well"

Are you sure it ain't just moving paint?

Actually, i'm hoping thats all it is....that was the distributors best guess, but i wanna get it looked at anyway. I'm not overly stressed about it....if its serious they'll have to replace the frame....if its not, then i've got nuffin to be stressed about!

It would seem that my passing interest has, well, past I'm going to just concentrate on local club racing for the next six months. I've still got plenty of re-learning to do. Body doesn't like the puke-o-matic intervals ATM but if I don't get them sorted I might as well put my dreams and aspirations back in the closet where they belong.

Only one Central Coast Club starter out of 300+ riders at the Masters Nationals is a pretty poor effort IMHO. Anyone know Rod Beckworth? Nice guy and a pretty decent rider too, came 5th in the crit.

Maybe masters tinselware wasn't a priority for riders this year. I know Rod targetted this year's events specifically, even bought a plastic bike with DA bits. I'm pretty sure he sleeps with it. His young daughter is turning out to be a pretty handy rider too. You might see her name up in lights in 3 or 4 years time if she continues to enjoy the sport.

It was plenty too early for me to be bothered with. I still have another 12 months on my L plates. Maybe next year. Besides, I wouldn't have wanted a novice like myself to put the rest of them to shame

I went down to Lancefield. Had a great time. I can't wait till next year.
It's NSW's turn. Possibly somewhere around Gunning I hear. Fantastic thing to do IMHO.

I was talking to Rod this morning about his adventures (and some fella named berny!). He mentioned that the NSW masters are on at Wagga Wagga in late July (brrrrrr), and I might just join him if I can get a leave pass. We might even be able to convince one or two others in our age group to come along.
