Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I can just see Pcad organizing and directing a makeshift paceline and blowing by the riders cruising along with their kids. He'd probably be all decked out with his aerohelmet.

And once you get really fast it won't be a problem as they won't be able to keep up

If you think they're hard to get now, wait until May when they start selling it on the overseas market.

Anytime you become worried that there might not be anything dumb in the news to comment on, NY comes to the rescue.

I'm a coffee snob (my espresso machine and grinder are worth more than my bike... not that that's sayin' too much) and I pay $15/lb for my beans, but a $12 espresso drink is stupid.

...but I'll probably try it once.

if people are stupid enough to buy a $12 coffee, then take it from them. Same goes for the $5k bikes.

Regardless, where's the competition. Oh that's right, there is none. HP just shelved its 'Slate' project.

This morning's commute ruled and I really like the Orbea. It was one of those mornings where I hammered away and it felt great and I just kept riding harder and harder. The icing on top was riding alongside my wife who was driving my daughter to school and they both kept waving and cheering me on; my wife was surprised I was able to ride as fast as I was then she shouted "HONEY YOU'RE GOING OVER 30MPH!". Hopefully this will make it easier to get bike gear etc. now that she can see I like to ride not cruise around.

This happens sometimes on the Nyack Ride, except nobody shouts, you look down at your speedo and it says '36 mph' and you say 'Fark Me I'm going over 35 mph' as you try to hold the wheel. Friggin Road Nazis.

I actually weighed myself this AM.

Big mistake. Don't worry, it won't happen again.

You're on this thread, you are in trouble.

Plus that was before I had another two teeth extracted. That sucked. It has been a very rough Spring for Uncle Pcad.

So now the race is to see if you can win a race while you still have more teeth than not? At the rate you are going, you better hurry up Sir Butterball.

But wait, shouldn't you be lighter with less teeth?

Did I miss anything the last few days?

I pulled a Jens Voigt face-plant on a MUP coming back home to Brooklyn from the long Gimbel's Ride. Thankfully no broken bones or anything. I blame the SRAM hoods.

Still, being a Met's fan must suck much more than doing a face-plant.
