Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Not quite sure how to interpret this, so I will take it in the sickest way possible.

I just shaved, that was fun.

I've been riding my bike the past three days. Two of them on the TT bike. That Slice feels great now, feels a bit faster. Position is dialed.

I was .5 miles an hour faster on one of my 19 TT loops today. It's slightly faster all right. Part of it is the cockpit: new aerobars don't move around when you hit a bump. Also very comfy in the final aero position, I can stay in it 90% of the time (only out of it climbing or in very dicey handling situations). I've been riding it with the tubies, makes the bike faster on the hills and upgrades (there are a couple of little climbs on today's course, including a 250 meter 13% hill near the end).

Most of all, it's fun to ride now. I like it.

will you be calibrating this one or are you still riding around averaging 30mph?

Welcome back. Did you have to replace any rusty items on your dust-covered bike?

I'm thinking about procuring a Joule. It does altitude and grade %, which is nice, I could use that on all my bikes, which is cool. Weighs 74 grams. Comes with a rechargeable battery.

That's a friggin speed bump around here kid. It's 200-250 meters long, it only gains 150-175 feet of altitude or so.

You grind up this little hill and then you get to plunge down a longer 400+ meter hill into downtown Goshen NY, which rockets you into downtown traffic (not that there's a lot of traffic in Goshen) @ 35 mph, which is really fun. It's fun blowing past the cars on the left sometimes.

Cars suck by the way. They're even suckier if you ride a motorcycle. Then they're Cagers, the lowest form of scum on God's Earth.

Aren't those all things the 705 does for less money and with maps(should you need them)? the 500 does alt grade and power and only costs $250.

That sounds safe. Wear a helmet cam, post video, and we'll make another dumb BF thread out of it.

I'll tell you what's fun. Riding my ST1300A is fun.

I am a complete and utter motorcycle Fred. I revel in my profound MotoFredosity, and when I see Harley Posers hanging out, I try to rub their idiot noses in it as much as possible. Because as dumb as motoFreds are, Harleyidiots are even dumber still. In fact Harleyidiots are even dumber than cyclists, and that's saying something right there.

That bike weighs about 700lbs and it has 120 hp. Do the math. That's like a 3500 lb car with 600hp. It goes 0-100 mph in <8.5 seconds by the way. It's stupid fast for a Fredmobile. And it gets 40mpg too. Priuses get over 40mpg, but they don't go 0-100 mph in 8.5 seconds.

Eff the stupid hard cases. They stay up on the shelf and only come out when I need them. If that makes the bike uglier, I like it better. By the way, half the bikes in Europe have the top box and no side cases. So that's the Euro Look.

114.1 hp according to
https://www.motorcyclistonline.com/pe...lts/index.html

Which has you quater mile in 11.43 @118.6 and my bike at 11.63 @116.5.

You have edged me out in the comparision. Though at those time rider weight might actually make a difference. Of course you edge me out there as well.

Heh, I've located exclusive footage of coasting's stint as a soccer goalie.

I don't mind a topcase without sides as a look just not on a ST which comes with them (the new concours might look worse without though).

120 hp, 114 hp, whatever. Enough hp for me. Although it's amazing how you can get used to speed, and now I sometimes thinking 'hey, another 20 hp and 50 lbs lighter and this bike would really fly'. Of course, it's already faster than just about any car. What kind of motorcycle do you have?

Lance rode an 11-26 cassette for stage 2 of the ToC. There must have been some steep climbs that day. 39/53 chainrings of course.
