Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I do a large charity ride with a "team".

However, the only stat that is recorded over the day is how much money the team raises, collectively.

ended up 45th yeasterday at the race...I was about 10 sec off the back at the end of the race but they kindly recorded it as 'same time" 10 peopel behind me then a crash / exasution took 20 more. Not terrible for my rear brake rub race. I hope guys behind me had better excuses than mine

(but seriously the dudes that crashed had a pretty good excuse)

Nothing is quite as dumb as cyclists who don't race referring to their 'team'. That is the very Pinnacle of Fredliness.

I liked watching the racing footage from the 30's through the 70's. After that, whatever. I watched that all on TV already when it happened.

What if you only have 1 person on your team and you don't race? Does this qualify for Fredigory upgrade?

The guy that lost the yellow (but still finished) because he stopped at a blacksmith to bang out a new fork is the definition of HTFU.

Bob Roll just made the observation that 'bike racers are dumb, but they're not that dumb'. He should visit the 33 some time.

That's why accidents occur during charity rides. Take it easy rocket-wannabe.... the ride is for fun.

depends how quick they are crapping out a stream of (somewhat) legible thoughts.

If you think my spelling is bad you should see my handwriting.

PS the above reasons are my number 1 reason for going into engineering.

The infighting in the 33 tour thread was fun today. You get that many big balls together, it's gonna happen. I wanted to do the popcorn thing, but that would have killed it.

Andy Schleck says he has 'fire in his belly'.

I have a Cadbury chocolate bar in mine.

So it goes.

I'd be a great descender in the TdF.

I am stupid, and fearless. And I understand bicycle and motorcycle handling enough to pick the right line. The key is to relax. REfrigginLAX you stupid Freds.
