Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I obviously haven't been paying as close attention to the Lohan saga as I have been to the economic catastrophe.

Silly me.

Yes I agree with what you are saying but finish the thought. The only thing an addict can change is their behavior. they have to hit bottom, however you want to describe it. Thats when you see the change. Every addict that has recovered has been there they all say enabling does nothing. If you make it comfortable for them where is the incentive to recover or break the cycle. I aint sayin its easy. It aint. Or pretty.
The other side is, well,if she is either going to make it on her own or not, at least recoup some of the costs for all the court, police dept and legal time she costs whatever county. In the long run it wont matter either way. right.
I mean if it becomes a hardship and she wakes up because it pisses her off or whatever. great win
If she makes other arrangements to keep her and the public at large safe from her coke/alchole binge drinking and driving. win.
If she does croak herself due to her bad habbits and failure to gain control at least she paid her way, not joe public. again win.

Right, I agree. what are those people doing for her? What have they done for her in the past? Getting her off the hook isnt the answer. They have done that to death already. She needs to pay for her actions just like anyone else. thats when she will hit the bottom, thats whaen recovery starts. But that doesnt mean that she will recover either. Some never do you know.

Its not really about the money. It is about doing something to her that will get her attention. Money, is her gage to her status, Perhaps if her behavior effects it in a negative fasion then she will find it within herself to make a change.

Very few addicts just wake up one day and say " well ok I am done with that now ,I will be a positive part of society" without some kind of turning point.

Listen pcad, I want to disengage from this discusion of the Lohan tragedy. Our opinions of how to handle her are vastly different. Sorry, I had no idea you were a fan/friend of hers. I do care, just as much as I care about any other human being with this problem.
This is the addiction thread after all.
Peace.

Pcad,

How's your new Prius going to get up Mt Doom in the snow? Those things suck mightily in poor weather conditions. Snow tires? That's a pain.

Snow tires will kill the gas savings of that thing.

Pcad should heed my advice, and go for the Hybrid Highlander.

I'm no fan. I think she's a talentless idiot. But at least she's not dead.

Yet.

If you're driving around in the snow, your Prius will have trouble. That is all.

Avoiding the sliding Prius is a winter game around here.

...too much battery weight in the back. Useless battery weight at -20C also since the charge is only 20% of normal.

Do you play avoid the mini cooper! Those things bounce around the guard-rails like little air-hockey pucks because their wheelbase is about the same!
