Mmmm, took some photo pictures of my CAAD.

Muffin Man 05-14-13 07:26 PM

Today I crashed my CAAD. Wheels are out of true, RD may be bent, and the right shifter is a little gummed up now, but it's ok.

jtwilson 05-14-13 07:26 PM

Nice looking CAAD. Is that a Force crank with new Red rings?

Sorry to hear. How'd you crash?

Metieval 05-14-13 07:28 PM

I don't much care for red...
Yet I am saying that is HOT!!!!!!!!

Nice bike Dudemanppl!!!!!!

Took a hairpin turn way too fast, hit the side of the hill.

Strava. That 15ish minute gap in my speed was right after the crash.

jtwilson 05-14-13 07:38 PM

That sucks. Looks like you apex'd the turn at about 27mph. Not exactly a hairpin, but definitely pushing it for 27mph. I took a similar turn on a -10% grade about 5 weeks ago at 28mph and stayed on the road by literally less than an inch. Learned my lesson the easy way, I guess. Heal up quick. I wish I had terrain like that to ride in my backyard.

Metieval 05-14-13 07:53 PM

sorry to hear Muffin Man. at least your frame doesn't look my old caad8 frame. :D Try running out of pavement in a drift. Everything just folds up.

My Phone call, hey Dad want to come get me at xx.xx location, Oh and bring a suitcase as I've the bike all folded up and packed. LOL

btw strava / networking is cool, but when it comes to speed, zoom, mapping, details... Ride with GPS http://ridewithgps.com/ much better for certain things, (my opinion). I.E. http://ridewithgps.com/trips/1271491

Crashes suck. Something always gets damaged... us or the bike and usually both. Also why I am very leery about buying ebay bicycles. We changed out the scuffed up shifter/bar tape or RD and say oops it was the wrong size bike my loss/your gain.

Metieval 05-14-13 08:14 PM

I keep looking at this CAAD.... but something isn't sitting right with me. Might be the 13-14 lb claim.

Dear lord.

May I have HD pics? I'll PM you my email.

dudemanppl 05-14-13 09:07 PM

Sure, sure, NGL though, colors are WAY off (second time processing E6).

Yessir, I have the rings rotated 180 degrees to compensate for the 5th arm on Exogram cranks, I'm switching out the crankset for Exograms with Praxis rings though, saving 215 grams, almost half a pound!

No way is that under 16ish. Mine is 13.6 lbs and decently weight weenie.

Ugh I had a mis-judged corner while descending about two weeks ago. First time out on my Giro Empires and the 303s and was going 25 in a corner that was definitely 15 max. I thought my shifter broke, but it was a pebble... So I switched to my friend's Red group.

Oh and if any photo peoples are wondering:
Pentax 67
105mm f/2.4
4 seconds at f/8, Provia 100F at box speed

No one bit the first time, and he put it back up but added the weight on this auction. If it has never been crashed maybe (that's an unknown though).

But how can someone that puts those components together be that far off on weight? I am thinking that it was a guys crit bike, he crashed it... dumped some stuff on it and is now trying to get as much as he can. that's just my opinion on the ebay listing. and twice recently 2 green/white/black Force bikes have been on ebay both saying they couldn't get them to fit. Who shells out over 2K for a new bicycle without knowing on the fit first?

Maybe I am being too big of a skeptic? Is it really possible for me to save money buying used?

dudemanppl 05-14-13 09:31 PM

Also, my bike was built together with about 2,700 American Money Units. 2,500 is a terrible deal. I almost got a CAAD 10 Ultegra for 1200, so search a bit more.

Metieval 05-14-13 09:36 PM

Or I just walk into a LBS and say I want a new Force CAAD10.........

Nagrom_ 05-14-13 09:43 PM

Bull****. That bike does not weigh 14 pounds, especially with those boat anchors for wheels.

+1 to that.
I built my caad for 2500 AMU's. Includes custom wheels, fancy aftermarket fork, and other fancy stuff all around.
There's nothing too flattering about that bike at 2500.

...now... if you can snipe it for 1900, then that's a pretty dang good deal.
Just understand its probably in the 16-17 pound range.

dudemanppl 05-14-13 09:50 PM

Well there was a CAAD on eBay about two months back with full Red and a fricken' Hollowgram SRM that someone managed to get for like 1,900. eBay is a crazy place.

jtwilson 05-14-13 09:53 PM

Hollowgram cranks: MKV rings vs Praxis. Opinions?

The luganos are the worst tire i've ever ridden. Changing them out was by far biggest store bought speed difference. Also the luganos flat easy and will leave you on the side of the road.

I agree with Metieval, change them up if you want to. Tires are relatively easy to change and make drastic differences. I don't think there is any doubt that the GP4000s are better than the Luganos. However, if you have new wheels coming up too, you could wait a little and put the GP4000s on those, leaving you to only mount them once.

raatty You say you have new wheels showing up in 2 months.
IMO it all comes down to change them once or change them twice. If it was me, I'd change them twice. Best thing I ever did as a newbie was change my tires. It was enlightening as the the drastic difference in tires. and yes even a slight difference is very noticeable. I say do it and learn something.

Done. Just changed them. Actually, it felt good now that i have actually changed front and rear tires. i won't be so scared if it happens out on the road. just need to go and ride these and see the difference. When the new wheels come, i will sell the Shimano RS10's with the luganos. someone may want them as a spare set or to go on a budget build.

Thanks - Ratty

Metieval 05-15-13 04:51 AM

Awesome, deal :)

13 to 14 lbs? I'll guess closer to 17 lbs but it's still a nice bike. $1,900 and no bids. Make an offer. You have nothing to lose.

I would keep them for backups or a trainer wheelset. If you don't already have some backups

a kicker light from camera left behind the bike, back lighting the stem and bars would have made this image really Pop. Nice work though and beautiful bike.

Just got back from the Bike shop....

$2100 for a new Force Racing caad10. I'll have to give them my crashed destroyed caad 8 though with the 6600 groupset. With the front good Black ksyrium Elite and the bent rear. Can I get more for selling the stuff on Ebay? maybe, but is it worth the hassle?

Oh and I test rode the Rival first it was on a synapse. My first time riding SRAM. I Loved it!! Then I rode a Supersix 105 56 and a Supersix tiagra 54 (sucks I need a 55 lol) I sized up because for those long ass solo rides I'd rather be able to relaxed a bit.

The only thing I can say after a bunch of miles on Ultegra 6600, and then test riding the 105 and tiagra... I'm never going back to Shimano. OMG SRAM is awesome!

Oh and the Fulcrum 7's isn't bad either.... So yeah if I choose Force racing it'd be a blind choice based on the Rival groupset. :D

thats about 700 off MSRP, so i don't think it would be worth the hassle to part it out with 6600. Depending on if they have the bike marked down or if it's MSRP

Not worth the hassle to part out.

Oh, and if you liked rival, force will blow you away, ZeroLoss is amazing.
