Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Oh, during my ride down to the stinky city I'd just got done eating a KILLER slice of pizza then saw a cute gal riding fixed coming down the road. I got on the road and chased for a bit but she was filtering, which I'm generally not down with. I got behind her though and her bike was almost ENTIRELY GOLD! Frame, hubs, rims, pedals, OMG!

filtering = rolling on downtown streets and when cars are stopped at a redlight on a single lane street, you just squeeze by on their right getting to the head of the queue instead of respectfully waiting behind the car in front of you.

EDIT: Filtering is pretty much a necessity when you're bike messengering, but otherwise just an irritant to motorists.

FURTHER EDIT: I was taking the lane and waiting my turn at lights.

Bikes: Velo Volmobile

I'm ashamed to admit that I rolled through a red light this afternoon. I hardly ever do that if there are cars nearby, but it was hot, no one was coming, and I didn't feel like abruptly braking (I was sipping water).

I don't think a motorist behind me liked it very much. He yelled something at me when he passed.

I saw the first 3 episodes. HILARIOUS!
I've done a fair amount of drinking with the bearded dude in the starry speedos in the promo video.

I ran a red today too but I was stopped at it for at least a couple of minutes and no one was around. I had to assume broken sensors.

After hearing about some Fred on the internet that might get more miles than me I just got on the bike and said "Shut up feet".

2% is kind of a false flat. 4% is twice as much.

I hear ya. I swim but I'm not a swimmer. I'm not sure I could even swim the 200 yds, let alone the rest of it!

This is supposedly a 4-6% climb (this part is probably closer to 4%). So something more gentle than this:
