I have ended up competing in about every sport/hobby I have done other than maybe screwing around with VW's. RC sailplanes, sailboats, RC sailboats and bicycles are the more recent ones. Just wired that way I guess.

IME competing is the quickest way to develop a skill... not the only way, but it does tend to accelerate the learning curve.

I think the only people with pics of themselves on bikes are racers.

I read that too fast. I had taken part of the second phrase as the reason you feel inadequate.

Try the first three letters of Cumberland when they stand alone.

And here I was thinking that these Addict threads were for the elite of the forums to discuss their... well... addictions to cycling.

What I find is a... mini Foo.

Unbelievably... good! Some great reading here.

We have also named pets after inanimate objects. What gender was Sprockett?

What is this, Breaking Bad?

Soloist Assassin 12-23-12 03:02 PM

I rode my bike today. It felt good. Well except for the part where I hit the back of a car. I'm alright though. No real damage other than a little cut on my leg.

datlas 12-23-12 03:06 PM

Thanks for the tip on the 3 letter censored word, Rowan.

The censor is my favorite pet peeve on BF.

How's the weather down under??

I think the weather down there is hot. As usual for this time of the year.

But we're currently in Vancouver, Canada, winding down after spending the past six weeks driving around 17,500km (over 10,000 miles) south to the Gulf Coast and back again. Stopped off to see some incredible scenery in Colorado, Oregon, California and Utah, met some great people on the way, Machka added another five or six new states to her roll of places she has ridden in the US, and stopped off at the Bike Friday factory in Oregon.

We're spending Christmas with Machka's folks before we head off back home to Aus and to the reality of making a living again...

Glad you're not dead.

7063 miles year to date after today's ride. Spent about 4 solid months mostly off the bike, so that's not so bad.

Yeah, I guess it beats the alternative, well sometimes.

Correct.

We bring balance both to cycling and the 41

datlas 12-23-12 04:37 PM

I just got back from the pool.

My swim sucks, big time. But I still have delusions of tri grandeur.

I think a club should be formed- W.T.F, We The Freds! For now on we shall be called the wtf'ers.
Rules and admission requirements to follow. Suggestions accepted.

I come here for information and inspiration, and what do I get?

'Dream. Dare. Do'.

Hey, that's better than those idiots who go to a latex puppet for Words to Live By.

I did feel better on the bicycle today, that was nice.

Plus I wrote a cool song this weekend, which went over pretty good @ the open mic. It's called 'Didn't You?'
