That really is a cool opportunity. Not to say it is possible in this situation, but in my case there was a new Tollway extension (I-355) opening in Illinois in November 2007. The extension was only 12.5 miles, but more importantly the day before the official opening to vehicle traffic, the Tollway opened the roadway to pedestrian and bicycle traffic, so you could travel the entire length on foot or bike. I was aloof and didn't hear of the opportunity until the following day in the morning news. I was pissed. It would've been only 25 miles round trip, but what an opportunity missed. It's a beautiful roadway.

Reminds me of way back when they were building I-90 through Cleveland. I remember one winter, sledding down the embankment onto the highway, ducking under the guardrail in the center, and across to the other side.

They did one of those rides in Delaware, back when they finished part of State Route 1. I rode it with my dad. The governor even dusted off his old Schwinn Le Tour for the occasion.

to celebrate being back to fitness, are you going to buy a new bike and drone on about it for 6 months? if not, why not?

No he spends all his excess money on music now and drones on about that.

I'm so fat and slow I feel like Whoosshhy.

Either Solo or Whoossshhy should come over here and shoot me right now.

I bet if you asked that in the 33, they would bid on the right to pull the trigger.

Don't give up. Getting fatter and slower is much easier than getting slimmer and faster.

Kids are still stuck in schools in shelter in place. They are all safe but there is no way to get them home safely at this point. The interstate is ruined at least 300 yards in each direction. All of the local asphalt plants are currently closed for winter so this could be interesting.

I'm still not sure how I'm going to get home.

Amazingly, there are still zero casualties being reported.

It is truly a miracle that no one was in harm's way when that went off.

Meanwhile over here we got 11-year-olds car-jacking in a church parking lot.

Being shot is quick and painless. Bicycle racing when you're out of shape if far more torturous.

I'll just keep eating salads and riding every day. I'll get there. I really was mostly off the bike for the better part of four months, and on pain meds for half that time. Lost all my fitness. I wasn't so out of shape 5 months ago. I'll get it back, but it takes a while.

The next obstacle may be the Synvisc drama with the right knee, that typically knocks me off the bike, but maybe only for a week or so. That may be setting up for January (that's one year since my last round of shots). Knee is starting to get a bit cranky now. But hopefully I can put that off for another month.

I had someone ask me how many couches we had to burn to do that.

RollCNY 12-11-12 05:37 PM

Honestly, LC, that is scary ****, and I am glad your clan is okay. But if I knew we were burning couches, I made have made the road trip. :D

Look Solo you seem like a caring individual, and far from me to call anyone a nut basket...however after reading all your posts carefully, I have surmised that that girl is a first class, walking, breathing WHACKO!

It's almost like he met her on ChristianMingle.com. I think it's a match.
