I do like this new song however. Kind of a hard grinding blues number with a cool guitar hook called When the Backdoor Calls Your Name. It's about breaking up with the girlfriend you can't take anymore. The lyrics:

So this may not exactly be Solo's situation, but he's the one breaking up with the girl this week, so it would go out to him. Of course we know that won't ever happen and it will be As the Solo Turns for another several months. I really hope that poor woman finds some peace, mental problems of any kind are hell.

I find it amazing that you're specialists did not communicate all this to you. Maybe I am not the norm but every patient gets me explaining in language they can understand, the diagnosis, what causes the problem and the options for treatment including what I would do for a loved one. Education and communication are key. And it's fun knowing that you can make a difference.

My wound care guy didn't explain stasis dermatitis to me. I kept asking him why my skin felt like a first degree burn even after the wound was healed. He just wouldn't respond. Now that it's healed and the skin calmed down, it's starting to burn a little again. Statis dermatitis. More of a chronic issue in cases like mine I suppose. I just have to keep compression on it and lydocaine creme to help with the minor pain and hope it settles down. For 10 days or so there it was like 99% symptom free. I keep it covered with a large band aid and keep ointment on it to keep it lubricated and covered so it won't get chafed from walking around and riding.

Yeah, I'm hoping that if I can stay on the bike and lose 15-20lbs this leg condition will continue to improve.

Anyway, feels great riding, even being slow and fat. It may hurt for an hour or so on he bike every day but the 22 hours off the bike feel so great. Even on days when I don't want to be on the bike because it's cold or windy or I'm not into it, I always remember why I'm out there. That's why I've been riding daily for the better part of 22 years.

As for slow and fat, you ride long enough and you get thinner and faster; you progressively feel better on the bike every week. It's dumb sport, but it's a beautiful sport. It's beautiful on many levels, starting with the mental and physical health rewards, the way it gets you outside every day, the natural beauty it reveals to the participants that the cagers and home fatsos will never get to see, and ending with the sanity it confers to so many people.

That is as eloquent as I'm ever going wax about this crap for about another 5 years, so enjoy it while it lasts.

Maybe they should make that a Pcad Sticky®.

I still think he's trolling. He's either dumping her or marrying her in a sine wave about a week long. It's the troll paying out the line and reeling it back in again.

Then you ain't going fast enough. Suspension forks aren't about shock absorption; they are about running over big things at speed without kicking the front end out and losing control. The little bit of extra comfort is way secondary. It is all about thundering over roots and rocks at ludicrous speeds.

Same deal with rear suspension, actually - although I found rear suspension helped climbing on loose and rough stuff too.

On a drop bar bike where maybe you aren't being that aggressive, or where you are riding smooth trails, then yeah, the fork is just extra weight. But as soon as you hit rough stuff fast, that fork is a lifesaver.

And dear Lob man, flip that stem!

That's nice of you to say. Don't worry there's more where that came from. The Pcad Blues Songs for Idiots Factory™ is open for business. I came up with the simple chord progression (I-IV of a I-IV-V blues plus F#m to G7) plus a little guitar vamp over the past couple of weeks noodling during guitar practice. I wrote the words in ten minutes watching one of my wife's stupid friggin TV shows (she always watches the same friggin shows, it drives me nuts, I sit here and play on the computer or do other things and try to ignore them).

I don't get too worked up about rock n roll lyrics. If you play the song right, nobody can understand them anyway. I learned that from my rock heroes.

I'll likely go with one with a bit less rise, but doubt I could flip that one. With the 4cm HT like that I'll be dragging the front tire with my nose :)

There's another alternative.

Watching the Who on the 12.12.12 benefit show. Those guys are 60+ and they still rock harder than anybody else.

I just got home from picking up the Insight. I had some surprises, and a rocky start, but it is all good now. The IMA light was on when he sold it to me. That's how I got it so cheap. Well it was on, because the car sat for a period of time, and the batteries went dead. I had to jump start it, and it was so dead it reset the computer, and the hybrid system started working again. It reset, and the system started charging the batteries again. I wasn't trying for gas mileage I was just driving. I hit 80mph a few times, and I still averaged 57.2mpg on the trip, with the hybrid system not working for part of that. It's only going to get better now.

back in the mists of time, there was a thread in foo called "go ahead, ask pcad anything". it was like an online version of the oracle of delphi with the biggest blow-hard on bf pouring forth his wisdom. We all thought it would end quickly because any sane person would just say "F this lark, I've had enough." But for some reason pcad kept answering and answering and answering; all for no post count addition being in foo. the gods took pity on pcad and closed the thread. that is when all the masses starved of wisdom from the great pcad, hijacked this thread that he had created to drone on and on about his stupid Scott Addict, to drink from font of pcad.

my geographic knowledge of flyover lands of america is truely pathetic. when i met the one and only okie i have ever come across, i asked him if he taught at Rutgers. RUOkie had bled into my subconscious and i had associated Rutgers with Okies.

As for new bike crap, I'm very happy with my old bike crap, and considering the fact that a new bike of similar quality would wind up costing some preposterous amount of dough plus new wheels (my guess is the investment would exceed $12K) that can all wait until my business has a record year. Which was probably (inflation adjusted) 2001. So I'd need a time machine. And then there would be no Di2 anyway.
