We all thought it would end quickly because any sane person would just say "F this lark, I've had enough." But for some reason pcad kept answering and answering and answering; all for no post count addition being in foo. the gods took pity on pcad and closed the thread. that is when all the masses starved of wisdom from the great pcad, hijacked this thread that he had created to drone on and on about his stupid Scott Addict, to drink from font of pcad.

You drank from the font of Pcad in person on the River Thames, and it didn't do anything for you. Having my teenage daughter snarking at me every 30 seconds kind of derails the image.

for an online blow-hard, pcad is amazingly sane in person.

back to useful healthy eating tips. my flexible vegetarianism took a sharp detour to a bar-b-que place last night. I ate so much meat I might as well be a lion. Today, I know why eating a lot of meat is dumb. Stomach acid flaring up like buggery. ouch. I will stick to my rice and beans...until the next time.

Probably a bit of a shock to your system if you've been veg for a while.

How about those rhinos with GPS? Someone get these guys Strava accounts!

I find it amazing that you're specialists did not communicate all this to you. Maybe I am not the norm but every patient gets me explaining in language they can understand, the diagnosis, what causes the problem and the options for treatment including what I would do for a loved one. Education and communication are key. And it's fun knowing that you can make a difference.

I don't find it amazing at all. You are not the norm. Wish there were more like you. I just saw a specialist, got his diagnosis, and then came up with my own. Instead of going through the tests the ENT recommended, I decided to do an food allergy test which my symptoms are more related to. He never mentioned allergies or to change the foods I was eating. Gave me a prescription which I never filled. The Medical and Veterinarian world is pretty scary. Another pet peeve I have is they do not tell you the side effects of a med they prescribe. I google it. I found out years ago I needed to be pro-active in my health and my dogs. It is what it is no matter where one lives.

He is correct. My pulmonary specialist visited me for 90 seconds the day after I was hospitalized for a leg blood clot that had traveled to my lung (a potentially fatal condition). He gave me this sketchy sheet about post-hospital routines for a patient like me. As I now know, a compression stocking is a critical thing you want to be doing in the aftermath of such an incident. He didn't say boo to me about his. I'm out on a 70 mile bike ride 3 weeks later and my cycling pal who is an EMT looks at my swollen right leg and says 'you really want to get a surgical stocking on that pal'. I researched it when I got home and went out the next day and bought a couple, I've been wearing one ever since.

That lack of critical routine aftercare advice could seriously hamper somebody's long term health.

Watching the Who on the 12.12.12 benefit show. Those guys are 60+ and they still rock harder than anybody else.

All those rockers were great & still going strong. Amazed Keith Richards is still around with all the drugs he took.

Accurate maps are critical, every New Yorker knows this.

You should have seen 66 year old John Fogerty at the Beacon Theater in November 2011. What an amazing show.

They can probably drop some of the fatties here.

After today's 45 mile ride (I did have the compression stocking as usual for the ride) my right (the effected leg) and the left side were identical in size (previously it was often the case the right leg looked larger). I do think it's slowly coming around.

And yes, that's what the medical websites essentially said, that it's compression stockings and treating an ulcerations properly should they recur. At least I know what I'm dealing with. What's amazing to me is I could have been told all of this in ten minutes by my specialist. I got most of what I know about this from him, but then had to figure out the rest on my own. I shouldn't have to figure out any of it on my own, that's what he's supposed to do.

I really don't understand some of these doctors. When I see that wound treatment guy again I'll ask him why he didn't answer my question when Google did relatively easily.

I found those TV informercial Miracle Socks the other day at Ross and bought three pair as my feet are moody during the week. Years of bad walking habits, too much drinking (three years now since the last one) and flat feet left me with a form of peripheral neuropathy. Ankles, feet, lower calves at times, just worn OUT, tired, fatigued. Not painful, but enough to make it feel as if you are beginning your ride right after completing a century. The socks were a Godsend. Call them old man socks, diabetic socks, whatever - they absolutely make my cycling more enjoyable.

LowCel 12-13-12 05:35 AM

Going to see my family doc about my ankle today. She sent me a text yesterday asking if I could make it in today. She wants me....... :D

RT 12-13-12 05:40 AM

Good luck, LC. With the ankle.

I hope Lowcel gets his ankle fixed so we don't have to keep seeing those god awful trotters all bruised and swollen.

We are caring people.
