Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Bikes: 8 bikes - one for each day of the week!

I am now standing on the outside looking in. Apparently, this is something funny to everyone but me. She's pointing out that it's because I haven't seen the movie. The rental was 2 weeks overdue, and I never saw the whole movie. I did like that other movie, the Australian driving doco.

Cool. When I worked in Malibu I met a lot of people that would say things like "my cousin's gardener worked for Brad Pitt's hairdresser". Your trivia is slightly more meaningful. Don't get me started on that wildlife doco. Rowan almost got sucked in on that one.

Bikes: Thylacines...only Thylacines.

Part of Mad Max was shot along Kororoit Creek Rd., about 10kms from my joint. The funny thing is, is that it's still a sh¡thole, albeit now a sh¡thole with a bike lane.

Hitchy, you'll be proud to read that they did a 'test' on the 486 on cyclingnews.com just now. Tell me you didn't pay USD3,199 for the frame only. Please? Crikey. I worry about the cyclingnews people though I must say. They say crap like "RRP - Frame: US$3,199 - Complete bike: $5,800 (approx)", and if they can show me how that bike, with those wheels and a Campy Record group is only US5,800.....I run out and buy one tomorrow.

Maybe he called himself The Convert, as an indication of his ability to "convert" fantasy into reality?

Hats off to Rowan for stirring it up! Is there another thread that takes so much pride in offending others? BTW, no. Not Irwin, but Mick Dundee.

G'day,

yeah, strange review, dunno why they bothered actually, the frame is exactly the same as last years, except for the paint job. The HSC5 fork is about 100gms lighter than the previous model. You get a colour coded seat post as well. The 05 version is about $600AUD more than the 04.....The 04, frame, fork & headset was $5K AUD retail, but we get ripped off in Oz anyway......& who pays retail?......That pricing in the review was up that well known creek, I'm with you, If i could get the 05 in the review for $7K AUD I'd jump at it......mine cost more than that, but with DA10 & Cosmics.....

So, Wattsy needs to set the scene...Pete (aka Wattsy) is on the second last day of Higway Patrol (pursuit) Training. Everything's fast and furious for the course, so being the 'expert' that I am, I'm screaming around Broady, Sunbury etc at rediculous speeds (yeah, I know, I used to love this part of the job ) and the instructor took me down a road and says "how bout I show you where Mad Max was filmed?" ***** YEAH!!... what he didn't tell me as I rounded the top of the hill that goes down into this gully is that the the top corner was rated at 40kph...Wattsy approached the corner at 140kph and then after hearing the 'girly man' instructor screaming "BRAKES! BRAKES! BRAKES!". I was able to wash off about 50kph and some how was able to get around the corner. We came a little close to the edge of the round and a farily substantial drop off. Man I used to love that job some times!!

Oh, do we have Robin Williams in the house?

Or just another newbie taking himself seriously and trying to throw his gold stars around? <shrug>. By the time we've finished with you... oh what the heck, do a search on the phrase.

What's the best thing about breaking your heel? It doesn't stop you riding.
