no, because most of us have known each other for years (yes this thread is over 5 yrs old) and we have nothing to prove to each other. There is no incentive to exaggerate. Because when people did in the past and they were caught, they were called out on it. Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on POV), razor deleted all his posts in Addiction II that I linked to a few pages back. If you are interested, you could read that and see how the lies are treated.
Then there was the iJen thing with the short cut, for which she is still being mentioned in dispatches.
And friendly this thread is. It does just seem so, I find it so.

Because The Coasting does not understand women. One night, back when LoP and I were newly a couple, I woke up, felt chilly and commented on it. Rather than saying "There's blankets in the closet; help yourself", which would have been an entirely reasonable thing to do, he got up and found one and spread it over us even though he hadn't said he was cold. A few weeks ago, at least a year later, he woke up, realized I was shivering- I was asleep and didn't even know I'd gotten cold- and again found an extra blanket and put it over us. I'm not trying to embarrass him. I'm pointing out how different his behavior is from @coasting's. Furthermore, I've yet to meet a woman of any age who doesn't hear that story and say "Awww."

i don't know what all the fuss was about. but then again, i haven't been outside yet to see what damage was done. i slept like a baby through it, but my apartment is very sheltered by other buildings.
ms coasting on the other hand lives on the top floor of her building and was terrified all night by the winds. i was suitably sympathetic of course.

Anyway, after I told him that story, I saw that brief look of panic flash across Mr H's face, I could see what was running through his mind: "Never occurred to me some flowers could be wrong. This whole getting & keeping a woman thing is trickier than it appears."
Obviously he figured it out, although we had a panicked default for years to red roses only, I guess he figured that was always safe.

Lol, once when we were a young couple, still dating, I told Mr H a story about a previous boyfriend who had finally done whatever was the last relationship-ending straw. Trying to woo me back, he sent a bouquet of flowers that obviously cost the absolute minimum amount you could spend and still get a delivery, part of the issue with this guy is he had zero generosity, he was a professional, gainfully employeed, making a good living whereas I was in veterinary school living in poverty. Yet he still thought it made sense to split everything 50-50 & would get frustrated when I couldn't go to some pricey concert or something similar.
Anyway, after I told him that story, I saw that brief look of panic flash across Mr H's face, I could see what was running through his mind: "Never occurred to me some flowers could be wrong. This whole getting & keeping a woman thing is trickier than it appears."

No, everyone does not exaggerate on everything. Many if us, and a lot of us here in this thread, realize that life itself is fascinating without the exaggeration. And really, what is an exaggeration but a lie? When we do exaggerate it is pretty clear we are joking.

no no no no no! you are not pinning that one on me!
i asked her to come over to my more sheltered abode but she refused. So this morning (after I woke up at 11 a.m from a night of excellent worry free sleep) I called her and said, "just checking you are not dead." she was not amused.
