Why in god's name would you remove a perfectly good brake from an otherwise serviceable bicycle?

corter 05-01-08 09:39 PM

here's my bikesdirect frame all built up, basically took my other kilo and switched everything over, with new bars and stem. the other frame was too big, this is a 57 and i'm 6'3" with a 33" inseam. I've got a super weird build, really short torso, hence the longish seatpost but seat all the way up and mini stem, oh well. it rides nice though, nothing fancy

one thing, i think my chainline's off a bit, i need to fix that.

My friend is six foot 3 and has a 36 inch inseam... there's a good foot of seatpost on his 63 cm Trek touring bike.

Other than that... simple works really well here.

steppinthefunk - top bike! BTW, did it take you at least two hours to geat a good seat angle with that post? It took me ages.... Worth it though, they look great.

I feel like that Raleigh deserves some leather or cork grips. Absolutely gorgeous nonetheless.

somehow i doubt that. If you didn't have such a ridiculous saddle-bar drop then you'd find that this frame is indeed too small.

MIN 05-02-08 10:02 AM

stepinthefunk, what kind of cottered cranks?

rickhunter 05-02-08 10:07 AM

They are Raleigh Heron Head cranks.

Lauterwasser Bars. They're pretty rare so, even though I had no bike to put them on, I made sure to snatch them up when they popped up on ebay.
