eeek fg on the crosscheck must be hell... the wheel doesn't slip out or anything?
i have had it slip in the mud... but i'm finding fg i can control it better than on my mtb. i'm not racing though... built it last winter for a snow ice bike and really like it. put some pasela's on it but went back to the cross tires. nothing really to steep or too wet, yet. |

Fixed is SO much fun in the dirt. I've got a SS/FG Rob Roy built up that I take out to the trails and tear around on after work pretty regularly. I love kicking up dirt and rocks as I drift through corners. :) I haven't done any CX racing yet but I'd like to give it a shot this year.
Do not skid off road. If you cannot control your fg bike wihtout skidding get two brakes. If you still can't get a freewheel. Now that you know better there is no excuse. |

Most mtb trails have signs posted about skidding. It chews up the trail and ****s with other cyclists.

Cyclists skidding on the trails is the #1 environmental problem in America today.
Didnt you hosers see the Al Gore movie?..jeez. |
Maybe not the #1 environmental problem but it is still a problem and the primary reason we loose trails to ride on. I agree with Twe and Dutret. If you aren't going to leave it as it was before you got there, don't go there.

groundhogs ARE cuddly... but are horrible drivers and have no respect for commuting cyclists

Skidding on MTB trails shows the lack of control you have over the bike and the lack of skill you have as a rider.

|
The stem is a 3T Mutant. Out of production.. I have one and I think it's one of the coolest stems ever made.

Plus it makes the person who built the trail want to hunt you down, and well, you can figure on what follows. Hint: Pain.
http://colin.bloodyflapper.com/image...urlyxcheck.jpg "new" xcheck. Wheelset is temporary off a Lemond project until UPS refunds me some bills for the aero pro they destroyed. Going to see about putting a pair of salsa drops on it, but don't really know how much use they would get. Probably going to buy them anyway (16bux) and mock them up to see how they feel. Worst case scenario, I use them on another bike. Oh, and I need to cut the # of times it says "surly" to at least 1/3 of what it is at now. |

Just temporarily fixed gear for now: my '86 Gazelle Champion Mondial. As I was telling the C&V crowd, I'm slowly collecting a Suntour Superbe Pro group, but I couldn't wait to get it on the road so I threw on my fixed wheel set. It's awesome. Now I'm thinking I'm going to have to troll eBay for a Gazelle pista...

Yo, 128: '86 road bike and 60's pathracer frame. We should hang out.
edit: I really want a white rolls for the red pathracer (repainted sometime in the 80's), and something other than the white deep vs I have, but seeing as that fizik pave and deep vs are what i have, and cash is not, that is probly what it will be built with. right on. we should someday. http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1404/...f0d7d3d4_o.jpg getting close. hope to be riding this tonight... |
