Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Bikes: everywhere

... discovered that I'm not man enough to ride actual trails with a 34x15. Later tonight XC knobbies come off and semi-slicks go on.

Scrod, your beard is glorious.

Today I:
Rode with the Rapha dudes to Pt. Reyes, CA. It was the longest, hardest, fastest ride I have ever done. Camera car, sprints, pacelines, 5,100+ feet of climbing, lots of pain, and THE sandwich. I'm going to go find somewhere soft and sleep for about 12 hours. I dunno how these dudes do this every day for a week straight.

AWWW! I've DREAMED of riding out there. I used to live in Santa Rosa and my thing was photography. I'd spend many of my weekends out there at Point Reyes and Tomales Bay doing my thing but I wasn't much into riding bikes back then. I'm so jealous of you. I'd love to go back and remind myself what I'm missing. I'm in Illinois now, and I really hate it here.

Ugh...I literally messed with the angle every time we stopped today and couldn't find the sweet spot. No thanks.

Yeah well, I've got this stupid house that isn't worth a damn thing and I can't afford to leave. If I didn't have it, and my work let me do it, I'd be there. Maybe in 3 years!

concor light... 50< miles is trouble free. did the als century with it, and by mile 70 i was numb. blekh.

No, you should like what I like and thats final. End of discussion, now got to your room and think about what you've done.

Opinions are not tolerated in this household.

I think my Flite needs to go, too.

I think I need a saddle with a cutout. The gooch is always in pain by mile 15. Not good.

Today, I decided...rather than use my new SRAM cranks on my beat up old Affinity.....I'm going to build up another bike.

Went to bed at 11pm, didn't fall asleep until 6am. Now it's not even 9:30am. Guh!!

It's weird because I usually pass out before my head hits the pillow... but I get one of these restless nights maybe once or twice a year.

I found a Sugino 75 BB lockring. It is now my new key chain ring. Sadly, there is no NJS stamp, that would have been icing on the cake.

I just put an old Campy shifter onto my keyring. It actually looks semi-decent!

Today I picked up a 200w Polk woofer to add to my room's surround sound. Returned item discount at best buy so I got it for $100 less than the 100w model I feel kind of sorry for the rooms that abut mine.
