Bikes: 2015 Soma Double Cross

I've been running double straps on my GR-9 pedals for a while. It worked well enough, but since there's no slot for the front strap to slide through they'd periodically flop around loose. So, I go to the hardware store and pick up some stainless bolts and nylock nuts. Come home, find out the bolts are too long. Like, way too long. Dremel can't get through the shank of the bolts. Bolt keeps popping out of the clamp as I'm going at it with a hacksaw. Annnd I screwed up one of the threads in the process.

In the end, a 10 minute job ended up taking me an hour. But hey, now I've got functional double straps and I finally found a legitimate use for my tap and die set!

TIL:

When you cut threads using a die, nylock nuts turn into regular nuts. And I am nuts.

I kind of want to get a moonlander or pugsley and run it as a fixed gear.

At first I thought Surly had competitors in the ultra fat tire bike market, but I was mistaken.

Salsa has tempting fat tire rigs, but I think Surly reigns supreme.

i like surly a lot - have a steamroller now, my 1st ss mtb was a 1x1, & have ridden/lusted after pugs. but if you think they don't have any fat bike competition, you need to widen your horizons...

Still sick, but I'm not calling off again. Found out there's a train station two blocks from my house, and I can get dropped off a mile from work. Makes the commute easier, but I feel like a loser taking a bike on the train...
