This Kilo TT ad says the fork is partially threaded and you could finish threading it. Is there a special dye for bike forks?

Yes.

scrod, how do I know when the usb chargers are gtg?

The red light turns green. It takes a pretty long time when they're new.

Dear scrod,

I noticed you've stocked the loose ball SG75 BB; are you tempted to try it?

No, but we get a lot of requests for them.

So I ordered a now Turbo saddle, and yes it is leather. How recently did they switch it back to leather? Do these leather reissues feel better than the previous pleather reissues? It better be for increased price

Also, since I have no rain experience, would you use this saddle in wet weather? I'm going to visiting Portland,OR in the winter and am wondering if I should stck to my vinyl one or take the leather one anyway since it is for the bike I am taking.

Scrodzilla 10-26-11 12:00 PM

I got mine wet once and it took about 3 days to dry. I don't advise it.

Thanks for the info

weird I see no light indicator, that's why I was curious. I'll just go with the 'leave them for several hours' approach when they start going out

Scrodzilla 10-26-11 06:00 PM

When you plug them in, they should light up red. If they don't, wiggle the light around in the usb jack a bit. Sometimes if I push the light in a little too far on one of my usb jacks, the light doesn't come on.

How much did your Panasonic DMC-FX07 cost? How long have you had it? :P

Also, how come I don't see anyone with silver components on the Kagero??

Edit: Actually. I figure it's because ofthe black PC seatpost clamp and black FSA headset lol.

Well, actually, I mean the the spacer itself moved outwards on the axle. So when tightened the nut sits flush with the axle. I was more wondering if there's any danger involved with that.

(in the picture you can see a gap right near the fixed side of the hub, it's supposed to sit right there if I'm not mistaken)

That's perfectly normal: The spacer just slides on the axle and isn't held on until you bolt the wheel in the frame. Sometimes you'll see a spacer on the drive side placed between the cone and the nut for easier access - it lets you keep the axle from spinning while you unscrew the left-hand cone. This way you can remove the axle without having to also remove the freewheel. Even then you may have additional loose spacers.

Sometimes these will sort of sandwich together after some use, so they seem to be attached. Inevitably you will bump the wheel against something, have one fall off, and then wonder why your wheel won't line up quite right in the frame. :)

Hey Scrod - are you still looking for an old school Madison?

Scrod,

This crank (http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/M...?ModelID=56066) needs a 111mm assymetric BB. There's an unsealed BB for it but I wanted something sealed. I found this BB (http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/M...?ModelID=26421) that is 111 but symetric. Is it a problem? Will the chainline be off?

Perhaps, but not that one.

By a couple of mm, yes. I've heard you can use a 109mm symmetrical BB to correct this but I have no experience with it.

8bits 10-27-11 06:10 AM

it is, but is also unsealed :-/

Scrodzilla 10-27-11 06:11 AM

I just realized that, so I edited.

hamfoh 10-27-11 07:11 AM

could I use s300s without an issue? a tempting trade has come up for my omniums involving some other parts and I'm not sure I want to drop $220 replacing them with the new ones and the 115 s300 set looks tempting.

oh and the pair I bought from you never started that 'clicking' noise that you and I kept experiencing. Once I sold my first pair on craigslist the problem never occured ever again, on any of my bikes. maybe some of them just suck?

edit: oh I just noticed the s300s are 3/32 chainrings :x

Scrodzilla 10-27-11 07:20 AM

Angie is using S300s with the stock 3/32" ring with a 1/8" chain and cog without any issues and her drivetrain is amazingly quiet. The S300 is an awesome crankset, IMO.

The stock BB is listed as 'GXP Team' and it might be different than the stock Omnium BB but I don't know for sure. I think some of them may just suck.

hamfoh 10-27-11 08:08 AM

do you know the difference between the 2011 and 2012 version? I posted this in the 'deal' thread, but I saw last years on amazon for $84 and was wondering if that's what angie was using? they have dick for info on amazon's site

Scrodzilla 10-27-11 08:33 AM

Same as the Omniums - the new model has a black chainring. Angie's got the grey chainring, which looks pretty cool on her bike because it matches her ti grey rims.

Also, that Amazon link is for S100s (Powerspline BB) but the title is wrong. That's a mistake a lot of retailers/distributors commonly make.

hamfoh 10-27-11 08:43 AM

ddeadserious 10-27-11 08:46 AM

Scrod, Do you think I'm going to survive the wait for that 722ts? The tracking information has not updated and I'm thinking I might not make it through this.

Scrodzilla 10-27-11 08:48 AM

You'll survive. I hate when USPS doesn't scan packages!

Alright, I hope so. I feel like it should get scanned at some point, guess I'll see.
