calv I sold mine for $70 shipped, but I didn't try that hard

scrod: what's the lowest I should take for my 725. the local guy didn't show up ($275) and now some guy in OKC wants me to ship it to him for $275

yummygooey 10-13-11 05:01 PM

What's included in the sale? Just the frame? $275 means you're only netting about $250, assuming you have packing materials and you opt for the cheapest possible shipping method.

hamfoh 10-13-11 05:10 PM

yeah I have the box and most of the packing materials, may need to get some extra bubble wrap. cheapest shipping looks around $20 (it's only going to OK)

everything from the headset, minus the starnut, is included.

jpsawyer 10-14-11 09:06 AM

Dear Scrod,
I have a Pake frameset i got recently from craigslist. I wanted to get a new fork for it, the website says the steer tube it 1 1/8" but the fork and headset installed on this frame is 1", and it seems to be working fine. I havent measured the Steer tube yet though. I am also pretty sure that the fork is the stock unicrown fork that comes with the black frames. I asked you cuz you have some Pake frames in your store. Do you know if old Pake frames have 1" steer tubes? or should i just get a new headset when i get a new fork?

Do you like "The Walking Dead?" (warning: zombies & gore)

redpear 10-14-11 08:14 PM

Zombies and gore? More like silly drama. So disappointed.

Scrodzilla 10-14-11 09:25 PM

hamfoh - if you have all the packing materials and box, $275 shipped isn't a bad deal. Pack it well (maybe try to scrounge up some extra bubble wrap or whatever) and send it USPS Parcel Post, which will cost you around 25 bucks.

jp - older Pake frames were all 1". If that's what you've got, you'll need a fork with a 1" steerer.

homebrew - I've never heard of it.

Decepticondc5 10-14-11 09:33 PM

whats your take on thoseSchwalbe Duranos?

Scrodzilla 10-14-11 09:35 PM

They're light, fast and very durable. I love them.

Decepticondc5 10-14-11 09:38 PM

Decepticondc5 10-14-11 09:43 PM

Do a little more research. The 1980 reissue - which is the model currently available - has a nubuck leather cover and made to original specs.

OOH I didn't know these are available. When I bought my new Turbo it was only available with pleather. Cool! that is going to my next saddle

The books were way better.

You're breaking the rule but I'll let it slide. They'll be here Tuesday.

Yeah, they have an almost suede feel to them but after riding for a while, it turns smooth. The padding is also a little more comfortable than the vinyl version they made a couple of years ago.

I respectfully disagree.

What happened to the popularity of the Schwinn Madison around here?

Scrodzilla 10-15-11 08:49 AM

I think it has most to do with the new Madisons not being as nice as previous years' models.

Example:

WHoa, what happened!?

Scrodzilla 10-15-11 09:03 AM

That's a question I have no answer for.

Scrod,

I can't seem to find any 110mm bcd chainrings around the size I want which is 46t or a bit smaller. Currently running a 50/18 on SRAM Rival 170mm road cranks.

Should I bother hunting for one or buy a 165mm 130 bcd crankset? Cause I know 110bcd is pretty much all for the 50/34 double compact road cranks and thats all that i've found online.

Edit: Just found that Surly makes a large assortment of that ****

It's cheaper and easier to buy a 19t cog.

This. Plus, big gears look pimp.

Sometimes I question my own idiocy but for some reason I have my heart set on either changing the chainring or getting 165mm cranks.

If you are gonna buy cranks, why buy road cranks and convert them to single speed / fixed use? Why not just buy some SS/Track cranks?

Oh. That would explain it :)
