Bikes: En plus one

I would be surprised if that thing was even rideable, it would seem the pedals would almost be hitting the ground. Aside from that, i want one .

The whole thing looks mocked up for the photo, particularly the seat angle

Obviously, he is still trying to dial in his cockpit.

Also, isn't that like a $450 bar?

Maybe the sternum puncher is the rhinoceros horn analog of that rack.

That's what gets me. King headset, Thomson stem, Rohloff hub (I think). "Nah, just leave the steerer like that."

I wish it was a troll bike but it was posted by the owner to one of the FB bike pages I'm in. He has more than one bike with that JA saddle angle.

Fixie foo kids occasionally come into the shop with their saddles angled like that. We always ask them why they think that's effective and the "reasons" are always hilarious.

You should buy him one of those nose-less saddles for Valentines day.

I know you're supposed to have a level saddle but some are a bit tricky to figure out what's truly level.

Do you think the nose on my Flite needs to come up more to make it level? It's a good photo because saddle is right next to the top border for horizontal reference.
Thanks.

The easiest way is to use a carpenters level across the top of the saddle, i will do this if I am setting up someone else's bike.

Level is only a starting point, you can move it from there to gain more comfort. The reason we care about level is because of gravity. A stool that wasn't level, wouldn't be very comfortable.

The problem with a pointing the saddle nose down is tendency to slide forward (gravity) so you have to push yourself back. This can become tiring very quickly.

To add confusion, the part of the saddle that needs to be level, is the pat that your sit-bones rest on, this varies from saddle to saddle. This is why you see most Brooks installed nose up, because that makes the the rear of the saddle level.

Your saddle looks fine, but more importantly is it comfortable in that position?

They do make a cool tool called a level. It is designed to tell if shiz is level or not. I put it on my saddles and racks and adjust as needed.

Your saddle doesn't look bad but that tool will make sure of it.

It doesn't matter what anyone thinks based on pictures of your bike. Your very own taint and balls will tell you if your saddle is at the right angle.

Thanks, I only do carpentry for a living....
A level is just that...to level a flat surface. Seats that have a higher rear section will totally mess with any type of leveling tool since your butt isn't sitting on the back edge. You'll just end up with the front angling upwards at a goofy angle. I've seen Flites at this angle and it's usually followed with a bunch of "dude, lower that nose down, that's not a BMX seat."
