Rained and poured today. Thunder and lightning. Kept the shop quiet.
Quiet days are worse than busy days sometimes. |
Today I put in street ride.
|
Today I raced a train to a crossing and my heart rate hit 156, so I died.

Ha ha, that is funny. So using the old 220 formula i could calculate your age?

Racing trains can be a win/lose situation depends on how fast the train is moving.

today i:
just missed seeing an annoying coworker nearly punched by a customer, got pretty damn happy that the brewers won on opening day, cleaned up after my border collie after he left the gift of diarrhea in my apartment, *****ed about what a pain it was to ride in the insane amount of wind around here, made some chicken alfredo, and got this stuff in the mail: http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=372042 *edit: and apparently missed that my gf now buys **** from mary kay... christ, i feel old. |

R.I.P. good buddy. Your bikes are all too small for me so I won't even ask.
|
I can ride for 5+ min at 220-age heartrate.
that formula is dum even for younger dudes (27 here) |

Well, it's just a rough and simple way to calculate training zones. The max number is less important than the percentages for the ranges. However, there's no way I could sustain my max heart rate number for 5 minutes. You are either mistaken or have a world
class VO2 max. I regularly complete 4-5 min VO2 max intervals at 190bpm, give or take a few. My LTHR is 187 (based upon the 30min test as described in the Friel method), and I've climbed for 45 minutes before at 186bpm. At any rate, threshold rate is a much more reliable, useful metric than max is. Zones should be based upon threshold heart rate, not max, which can fluctuate daily by a significant amount. |

The Nikola | Pure Fix Cycles mind was blown for about 2 seconds, then I realized what today was. |
Genius.

Just got back from 1.5hrs in the (mostly) hammering rain, easy-peasy pace. I'm glad I decided to go out and didn't bail.
My legs were super stiff and uncooperative at the beginning; My legs are still tired from Sunday. By the end, I was spinning away without any undue soreness. I should be able to hammer out some intervalz tmrrw. Plus, I got some major HTFU points (shut up @Huffandstuff !). It reminded me of my college days when I would rain ride regularly. |
Today Leader sent me my decals cause they're awesome. 2 of like 4-6 colours too.
|
Tolllldddyaaaa.
Leader is cool, too bad I don't like the look of most of their stuff. |
