You get the panniers also?

Almost saved from the dump...I think. This 86 Panasonic Touring Deluxe is something I spotted on FB MktPlace late last night. There was a for sale sign in front of the house and she said, "the only thing my ex had good taste in was bikes" as she took my $20 with a smile.
https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...90c300b257.jpg . I'm guessing she would have put it out with the trash if I hadn't gone to get it. |

It's missing a few parts but it has a nice look. |

Just when I thought I'd seen it all... Couple fixer-uppers MTBs alongside the bike path, marked "FREE" with masking tape. One was a hi-ten Fuji just a step above dept. store, but worth cleaning up to give to someone. Other one is the worst-named bike of 1990 - a Giant Butte. Nothing real special, low-end gruppo, but a nice frame, perfect candidate to gravel-ify.
So both bikes were missing the rear tire. Didn't take much notice until I went to put a tire on the wheel from the Giant, and discovered this: https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...f049494f25.jpg For a while my brain was stuck in "what's wrong with this picture" mode. Then it hit me - dude had been RIDING on it with no tire, Good Morning Vietnam - style, obviously for several miles. No big loss - cheap nutted-axle hub and non-stainless spokes - but still, whiskey tango? |

I found this 1987-ish Centurion Accordo RS on nextdoor.com. The owner had done an AIDS ride from Minneapolis(?) to Chicago in 2001. Hadn't ridden it much since then (bought another bike), but couldn't bring herself to just set it out in the alley for the scrappers. She advertised it without saddle at $15. Heck, ya, I'll take it. I walked over. She had put a saddle on it and tried to give it to me, eventually relenting and saying, "Oh, just give me $10." Needs a tune-up and maybe new tubes. Haven't decided what to do with it. If nothing else, I can just stick it in the garage as a loaner for our AirBnB clientele. Apologies for the crappy picture, but it's frickin' cold out...

Picked this one up a couple of weeks ago nothing too exciting has a rather large dent in the top tube, I figure I can try my hand at trying to straighten out the framehttps://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...c33ebf07e0.jpg
Started out with mountain bike style brake handles in the middle of the drop bars, has replacement forkhttps://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...639d465b4f.jpg These looked really odd in the middle of the drop bars. decided that for $15 I could play with it a little bit |
Here is, by my guess, a 1973 Cilo Pacer full Reynolds531, Campy tips and dropouts French threaded bb.https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...6f25a6504b.jpghttps://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...410e189d87.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...251c978858.jpg |
4 bikes for $40 on Craigslist
https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...c52fbb2cce.jpg
https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...f2f21db909.jpg I usually don't bother with this type of listing, since it ends up being four trashed kid bikes. I saw adult road frames in the picture, and a leather saddle sticking out of the pile. A closer look revealed a 70's Raleigh Super Course Mk II covered in 40 years of grime from sitting in the garage. I ended up with a Raleigh Sportif, a Free Spirit cruiser and a Huffy road bike, as well! |
^^^ very nice score!

Maybe I'll make some wall hangers or do some collages with the kids. Out of all the boxes, the only part I found was this NOS Campagnolo brake pad holder. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...5446ec986d.jpg |
I don’t care if that letter was written back in 93, it’s still gotta be smacking on that guy! |
Still using a typewriter in '93, evidently. That's classic....
And what are the odds the invoice number would be 531? |

Are you sure about the French threaded BB? It's been a while since I serviced mine, but I'm pretty sure mine is Swiss-threaded. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4293/...e7f702d4_k.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4871/...1568def4_k.jpg IMG_2255 |

I was a school teacher back in the 90’s and we still used typewriters to make our tests, worksheets and letters home to parents. Good ol’ mimeograph machine as well.
Sorry everyone; /hijack . |

Today's interesting item is an Albert Eisentraut signature.
Name covered to out of respect to the recipient. :roflmao: https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...1cda83d0b3.jpg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...01336fba7c.jpg Edit-I missed the wholesaler part; that makes more sense. |

Well, let's just say that Eisentraut had a 1 1/2% discount for payment within 10 days, net after that. The letter was to a wholesaler/retailer (which is still in business), not an individual.
Today's post is this 65cm x 65cm 2001 Bianchi sales poster with Il Pirata on it. Gonna try to find a way to flatten and frame it. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...21fbdc521d.jpg |
