That's my bike!! I like the saddle choice! I like all of your upgrades. The upgrades on my Astral 2.0 include: Barends, bar tape for the barends, new grips, flipped stem, brake pads, 28mm tires, PD-M520 pedals, Specialized MTB saddle, new rear wheel, white Jagwire housings and cables, chopped down handlebar, cyclocomputer, bottle cage. I need to post new picture soon!

Here's a picture showing the newest upgrades. I got some $5 ergonomic-style Forté grips to replace my old ones that were shedding dirty rubber on my gloves and some new white tape. The rubber that came from the grips got transferred to my gloves and then to the bar tape, consequently making it dirty. I also got some new gloves .

I finally got my 2012 Jamis Coda Eclipse last week. I'm liking it pretty well - good solid bike and it rides comfortably.

Just picked up a 2004 Canondale Adventure 1000, hybrid, for a mere sum of $150.00, it's set up to be my, "utility/back up" bike. It's got a really weird drive train, Sram Direct Drive 3 Speed Rear Hub with a attached, 9 speed cassette so in theory it's got 27 speeds, even though it only has "SINGLE" chain wheel on the cranks. A "head shock", 50mm fork and it should be FUN on the local, dirt parts of the Pikes Peak Greenway!

Also, I forgot to mention, I am getting some new wheels for my touring bike. Which is the Giant FCR Dropbar build. My new set of Fuzion M1's 24-2x/28-3x wheels should be at my door sometime on Tuesday. I get sick of truing wheels after a while. Any handbuild wheels are a huge improvement and i got these for a ridiculous steal. I already have a set of the F1's for my backup road bike and they are NICE!
As soon as they get here I will change over the tires which are Specialized Infinity 700x32s unless I pick up a set of 700x28s Schwallabe Randoneres by then and post and updated picture.

Yes, nice pickup as well there bjj. That's a great trail to ride along the PPGreenway. Pikes is a superb hike, bike, drive, trainride.

1990? Specialized Crossroads. Bought it new but has been in the basement unused for 12 years after moving. Cleaned it up and replaced dry rotted tires. Also put on new seat and post.

I've got a 9 speed cassette, too. Out of the 27 available speeds, I use maybe 5 of them, all from the middle crank up front. The small one is too torquey unless I'm mountain biking with it and the large one is far too tall. I can hit 30 mph on flat ground in 7 and 2; I don't see the need for the large crank.

I remember back in the early 00s I was working at5 a shop that sold Specialized and we had a couple of 'Crossroads Elite' bikes with (I think) Xt derailleurs, a lightweight, short travel susp. fork and an aggressive layout for performance riding. Some of the bike snobs at the shop were saying 'wtf is that??!!!?" and "Who would buy a $1200 hybrid??!!?" as if it was painful for a 'true cyclist' to say the word hybrid. Those bikes were sold out faster than any other we had on the floor, I think, and have probably accounted for more miles of riding than most of the $3000 road bikes sold that year.

I decided this year I would do some winter riding. But I didn't especially want to take my nice bike out in the snow. And I didn't have money for a Mukluk. What to do?
Ah I have an idea!!! If we start with this...
plus
and a few other odds and ends I had laying around...
equals
I'm also building up some snowcats that I'll put my studded snows on. Don't beat me up too bad, that's all I could afford.
It's a little heavy, but for slushing around in the snow and the salt, I think it'll be fine!
