There's no shame in calling your "chainstay protector" what it looks like it is. An old inner tube. Heck I use a section of water supply hose on my commuter bike and part of a used road tire on my commuter bike. Without "zipties and ductape" where would the real riders be?

I like the bashguard! I want one for my own ride, but they cost money. I also am using an old inner tube as a chainstay protector. DITCH THE WORTHLESS PLASTIC DISK!!!

That disk is actually pretty useful, it helps keep your chain from shifting into your spokes if your rerailelr are out, i didnt keep mine either, i had to burn it off lol

I'm going to be using old squash racquet grips as my chain stay protector. The Bash guard would've come in handy a couple times when I rode over big logs...

You have to take off the cassett (sp)...then it just comes off. I do that to all my bikes. A guy at the bike shop calls it a "dork guard" or somthing like that.

They're a pain in the a$$ to get off without taking the cassete off, i just put a lighter under mine, and within 5 mins its burnt through and you can twist it off from there...

It's a super plush ride. Dean, from ATC Racing personally set up the fork, and since the frame is Ti, it absorbs all the little bad vibes. We're still working on balance (my wife just got her first set of clipless pedals) so it gets a bit crazy in the dirt. Technical stuff is a challenge, but so far she's been game for just about anything. The more confidence we get, the faster we go. The price of admission is high, but the thrills are worth it.

I used a pair of my wife's rose trimmers (shhh... don't tell her). I imagine tin-snips would also work as well. Cut straight through on opposite sides and you can just seperate the two halves.
