WEAR A HELMET! You only get one head, treat it well. Just because you don't want to use it now, doesn't mean you won't want to use it later.

Finally got around to mounting my new Marzocchi Shiver on my bike, and some new 8" discs. I only had time to mount the front, the back still has the 6" on it. Hopefully have time this w/e to put it on.
I took it for a quick ride last night and hit some small jumps. I think I need to go ahead and get the stiffer springs for it as I bottomed it out a couple times.
I'm amazed at how well the color schemes worked out. Wasn't really my intention, but a nice end result.

How are you liking the Geax tires? Got one the day before I went over the bars and messed up my left hand. Had it on the front when the crash happened, it wouldn't have gone in if I had my highroller on, but the distance to the Arch was enough that it wedged in there.

Wow, that fork looks awesome with the rest of your bike a2psyklnut...it matches pretty much perfectly. Plus that fork is just plain sweet.

aren't the marzocchi shivers dual-crown forks rather than single-crowned?

You gotta get some colored grips..too much black on the bars.
What company made the rims?
Again, nice.

Here is my rig...
Currently riding it on NYC bikepaths, so it has Specialized Nimbus semi-slicks (1.5")... Giant Rainier (Model '02), heavily upgraded... Has already more than 5,000 miles already and still going strong...
My upgrades, so far:
Mavic Crosslands wheelset
Truvativ Firex (Square-taped; 44/32/22) cranks
Shimano 520L pedals
Thomson Elite layback seatpost
Selle San Marco Mtn.gel saddle
SRAM PG970 (11-32) cassette
SRAM chain
Will update this winter:
Thomson stem (Currently: Giant OEM stem)
Truvativ Team flat handlebar (Giant OEM bar)
SRAM X.9 shifters (Shimano Deore)
SRAM X.9 rear der./Shimano XT front der. (Shimano LX/Deore)
Keeping:
Avid Mech. brakes
Marzocchi Bomber fork (unless I upgrade the frame, in that case I go for a new fork also)

OT, I'm shopping for a road bike (to be bought around Feb./March '05), probably Felt 65, or Specialized Allez Comp, or Orbea Marmolada... Crave for speeds on roads...

1995 Cannondale F700(My former race bike)

Seat: Selle Italia Ti Flite
Seatpost: Synchros Hardcore
Handlebars: Synchros Hardcore w/Coda barends
Fork: HeadShok DD50
Skewers: Nashbar(front)/LX(rear)
Crankset/Chainrings/BB: XTR
F/R Derailleurs: XTR
Chain: Sachs
Cassette: XT
Tires: IRC Mythos XC
Wheelset: Mavic 220 rims w/Coda hub(front) and LX freehub(rear)
Pedals: SPD M545
Brakes: XTR V-brakes
Shifters: XTR shifter pods/brake levers
$1250 new, but there’s no tellin’ how much I’ve put into it so far. I was thinkin’ about it the other day and the only parts(other than frame/fork) original to this bike are the QR on the seattube, the wheelset and the rear skewer. Came with Coda cranks and Onza pedals when I bought it in ‘96(anyone remember those?), but I wore out the elastomer fairly quickly. Even the spring and elastomer’s been replaced in the HeadShok since I’m a little hefty(5’9” @ 205—I weighed a little less when I raced:~180 or so). Changed out everything but the HeadShok internals myself. This bike also came with Coda cantilever brakes when new-I am so glad I don’t have to deal with those anymore….
1998 Cannondale SuperV1000(Supposed DH bike, really XC)
Seat: Selle Italia XO
Seatpost: Stock
Handlebars: Yeti 2-4 tapered risers
Fork: HeadShok DD60
Rear Shock: Fox Alps 5 R
Skewers: Ringle
Crankset/Chainring/BB: Coda one-piece(stock)
F/R Derailleurs: LX/XT
Chain: Sachs
Cassette: LX
Tires: Specialized Fear Control/Master
Wheelset: Spinergy SPOX
Pedals: SPD M636
Brakes: XTR V-brakes
Shifters: XTR shifter pods/brake levers
Got this bike used from a guy at the LBS in ’99 or so($800). Didn’t really need it, but it’s fun to bomb a little bit on the trails and it’s really nice having a backup bike to ride. Originally bought the SPOX, tires and skewers for the F700, but I threw ‘em on here when I got it and haven’t bothered to swap ‘em back.
1994 Chevrolet CavalierPOS
My bike transporter/commuter car: Bought this hunk new in ’94 and it’s still goin’ strong. Great gas mileage(it’s a manual) and it’s paid for! Ripped out all but the driver’s seat to make room for bikes/bike stuff cuz my wife refuses to drive it or even ride in it. I’d like to ride to work, but there are no shoulders on the roads around my house and drivers are just too much to deal with—esp. at night.

$850 USD. That's including a trade-in on my very used '03 Iguana.

With a handlebar bag I put on to carry my camera, a cheap water bottle holder with a rubber strap, and bar ends. They look mismatched in the picture, but I think it's the angle.

We should all have a single speed to remind us of the good old days of 20 inch wheels and gears fixed at 44-16. The urban/freeride guys think it's something new. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but we called it riding across town when we were little punks on BMX bikes. Now it's fun to whip past some weenie on his full suspension sled while I'm on my featherweight single. It's a custom Easton tubed frameset, Manitou black Elite (I think, the decals came off so long ago, I could be wrong) basic Mavic/Deore wheelset with Ti skewers, Titec seat/XTR post, Kore stem/Ritchie bars, Avid levers/brakes, Azonic headlock, and XT cranks with a bash guard replacing the big ring, and the chain cut to the perfect length so that the full cassette is on there, but only the 5th cog is used. No tension device, just luck. I can probably put it all back together in 20 minutes if I need to.
