yo Rumble,
That is a sweet ride. The Saint shizzle is fine dime hizzle. That Nixon looks plush. If you can do a little image scaling, and then save at a slightly lower resolution, that would be civilized. All these jokers at this coffee shop got screwed up looks on they faces when I sucked all the bandwidth downloading your magnificent, but portly, picture.

thanks, yea about the size, i fixed the problem or so i think.
the Nixon rides sweet no complaints. as far as i know, i am the only one in my area running all Saint. ofcourse shimano doesn't make a saint shifter so i'm running a sram attack which is great, just takes some getting used to using only thumbs to shift.

First bike in 10 years got it a few weeks ago. Originally it was a Scalpel 900 XL but the frame was too big for me, but for 1095$ I couldn't pass it up. The service manager at the shop had a Large 3000 frame in the back and offered to swap everything over for 100$ plus a few Franklins for the frame if I bought the bike that day. I almost **** myself to put it lightly because this is the bike I've always wanted. I sold the XL frame on ebay for 550$ last week and got all my money back.

I dunno if I'm going to upgrade it to a full 05 XTR drive train or piecemeal it together - need to do some research on cranks, derailleurs, and brakes but really the bike needs nothing. Its been rainin in SoCal lately and I couldn't help but to take it out anyway... two weeks old. hahahah.

I like that bike, looks nice. I would not recommend getting an XTR drivetrain. Personally i try to avoid shimano stuff, i think its grosly overpriced. SRAM is cheaper and just as light if it matters. It looks like your more into XC so i can definantly recommend Truvativ Stylo teams. I got these things for 95 on ebay, i love them! Stiff, and almost as light as the XTR. I think the different is not even 20 grams.

Thanks. The thing I like about the new XTR stuff is that its really pretty, looks well made. I've been thinking about the SRAM X0 derailleur though, as well as magura brakes, or hayes, but I dunno. I'm into building race cars and have quickly found that this bike stuff is almost as complicated as building a 32 valve V8...
Other than weight would I notice anything if I started swapping components for the latest greatest? For example, I was told if I upgraded my crank to the Shimano XTR since its lighter and more rigid it would be more efficient for climbing. How about the deraileur or brakes? Would there be a seat in the pants feel in shift quality or lever effort?
I find myself laughing right now since its like I'm talking about one of my mustangs and all the upgrades I did to it.

it's a little different now, than in the pics, but you get the idea. 38# now, the new stuff on the way should get me to 37#. selling off some old stuff to pay for it all. total net cost is less than $2k even with the new stuff coming. i've only had a few rides on it so far, but hope to get some good miles on it in the next few weeks to get used to it.
04 Weyless 67 frame 16" size, Manitou Swinger 3-way coil shock ti mount bolts, ti/alu mix of bolts for the dropouts/swingarm pivots
04 'Zocchi Z-150 - running full air with it right now, still leaves full rebound and ETA adjustments.
DK mph headset, alu colt for the starnut
Azonic Shorty 60mm stem, ti bolts
Answer Protaper bars, 27" x 2" rise with ODI Rogue lock on grips
Suntour thumby front shifter, SRAM X.7 trigger rear, alloy mount bolts (swapping this to SRAM twisties soon - i'm finding i don't like the triggers; i'm too used to the twisties from my hardtail)
Paul Love levers, fully sealed Avid cables for shift/brakes
Avid mech brakes, 203mm front, 185mm rear, ti mount/caliper/cable bolts
generic 20mm hub laced up to a D321 rim, 32 hole, 15ga spokes, brass nips
Ritchey Pro rear disc wheel with a Hope steel QR
(Hope Bulb front/rear with Mavic 819 disc rims, 15/16 spokes and alloy nips on the way......)
XT 12-34 cassette with some aftermarket alu lockring
SRAM X.9 short cage rear mech, SRAM pc-59 chain
RaceFace Taperlock steel BB, 120mm, ti crank bolts (yes, used the steel
bolts to tighten the cranks on first)
Shimano LX 170mm carnks, 22/32/Salsa bashring, alu ring bolts
(a new Race Face Evolve crankset/BB is on the way, with bashring to fit.)
Shimano M646 pedals, XT something or other front mech, ti bolts
Panaracer Fire FR 2.4 front, Maxxis Mobster 2.5 DH rear, generic rim tape/xc tubes
slow climbing, but with the SPV shock in back, it isn't too bad. worth it coming back down with the travel!

Hello..
Yes I did have a RM for a short while.. not many down Hills around here In Flat Nebraska.. The Rm was around 50lbs and was a killer to pedal around anywhere else.. Oh well, live and learn. The fuel 80 weighs around 29lbs and is better suited for the XC type riding that goes on around here.. Very happy with it..
How's it going over in the U.K.?
Enjoy!
