Because it makes a statement; it tells people that you are a good rider with better than average skills.

At least thats what Pochtecatl told me. Hell it doesn't make sense on a trail bike either. I have ripped 2 XTs off in a matter of 2 weeks. That was last year. One broke in half and ruined a rear XTR wheel. The other I was able to bend back and use. I still use it now.

Really? This is my first mountain bike. Glad to know what to do when I want others to think I have some skills.

I really wanted to get some better components, but I also had to buy two bikes. One for me, and one for my wife. She got a Hardrock Sport. So, I compromised. If I break stuff, I will replace it with nicer stuff.

What? I'm not sure if this is a dig at me but I went back and edited my posts. I did'nt realise it was a dirt bike/free-ride bike and that it did'nt need that sort of rear deralluer.

I'm the last person on these forums that will try to start a flame war, especially in a thread where people show off there sweet rides. I already worked it out with the last guy, and everything was cool. So what's this now all about?

This is an '04. It shouldn't have a front brake either according to the specs on the site. Did yours came with a front brake?

Yeah it definately is. It also makes a lot more noize, or is that just the chainline being a bit off?

the tentioner can be adjusted side to side, but the loudest click is from the pins (expecially the master link) hitting the sides, eventiually it digs grooves into the sides and most of the noise goes away

The seat was the first thing to go on that one. I use it as a commuter / in town cruiser these days as it's trail duties have been taken over by my Rockhopper

Now if I only had pictures of my old 1988 Specialized HardRock Sport, you'd see an even more drastic difference.
