Robbinsville here, if anyone knows where that is (Mercer Cty). Back into the road thing lately after many years off. Usually go solo simply because I don't hang with any riders locally and work in the city. In any event, would like to do a ride / race / charity thing, whatever....Have no clue as to what would be a good choice, or if there is anything fairly local to register for. Usually pop off 20-25 mile rides 2-3 times a week and a longer one on saturday or sunday in decent weather. Will up the mileage with spring on the horizon. Still hittin the road when I can - anything over 35 degrees. Any suggestions on a good first outing appreciated, don't know anything about the livestrong event?
Thx

In March a new site will be up with the details for each city.
Also, check the thread(s) in the Charity Events forum, right above the regional stuff on here.

For Diefer, MC Park rides
Diefer, I'm a ride leader with the Princeton FreeWheelers and I have rides out of MC Park 3 days a week. Sunday mornings and Tues and Thurs mornings. Come April 1st, it will be Wed & Fri evenings and Sunday mornings. Also in April they will rotate to 3 different locations. In April the evening rides are different types of training rides, Sunday they are regular rides. The mileage sounds like they are in your ball park. If you want a schedule, shoot me an email.

we (SJW) offer rides at varied levels/speeds. my sunday ride last sunday was about 7.5 miles, 35 minutes, in windy 31 degrees, with an all you want breakfast (Marines/$7) at the end. the rides usually aren't this short with option of massive food/carb reloads! my rides are draftless, more senic, we ride together at average 12 to 16 miles per hour with breaks (usually 1 break p/hour), c to c+ pace.
another member leads rides during the week and saturday/sunday about 50 miles each, 18 + miles per hour, b to b+ pace. his breaks are more sparse.
i learned how to ride in groups and bicycle maintanance (you should own a frame pump, patch kit, basic tools) through SJW and can show you how to use them if needed. i have drafted and time trialed,, prefer the slower, "smell the roses, see the area" pace. our centuries are at your own pace (sagged).
you can, or anyone else interested, send me private message here at BF for further details of rides in this area.

so far for my new bike i have purchased a frame pump, tire levers, seat bag, co2 inflator and small multitool kit. i'm going to pick up two more inner tubes to carry with me on rides whether solo or in a group as well as getting a case of some co2 cartridges and a patch kit. at first i couldn't figure out whether to just carry a frame pump or co2 or both, i figured i will just carry both and depending on how much flats i experience and how comfortable i get with changing flats then i will know if to keep using both or just use one. i guess one of the things i am worried about is being on a solo ride and not having enough supplies needed and then being in a predicament to where i have to "click clack/duck walking" home

Hi all! First post here. I grew up in Hunterdon County, but am currently living in Hillsborough.
Anyone know what the condition of the Delaware/Raritan Canal path is up towards New Brunswick currently? Last week I rode south from Blackwells Mills down past Lake Carnegie and back. The trail started out a little to rough for my bike (a hybrid), but then smoothed out and was fine. Next I want to ride north from Blackwells Mills to New Brunswick, but I've seen some older posts about the trail being rough due to flooding. Anyone know if it's any better now? Suitable for a hybrid?

Living in Teaneck baby!! My taxes just went up- BOOOOO!!!! Great riding up here in Bergen. I need to get back to group rides either with the Westwood Velo guys or Strictly Bikes fellas. Anyone got ride info during the weeks or weekends? Used to ride on Weds from Dunkerhook park, anyone know if it's still running?

Neil,
I usually ride from my home up north thru Englewood> Tenafly> Cresskill> Demarest usually making my way to Peirmont road and making Sparkill the top of my ride before looping back. Gets me around 30-35 miles. I also work in Paramus and will ride from there in the afternoons to Upper Saddle River- gets me 27- 30 miles. I did the path once that you spoke of and hated it! Too many others(walkers, runner, trikes, and roller bladers) on there forcing you to keep your speed down. It was not my idea to go there, but the others in the group wanted to go.

I'm in Galloway, which is right outside Atlantic City in South Jersey... Dirty Jerzey baby! I just bought my first touring bike and plan on putting on some miles both commuting to work and riding elsewhere. Can anybody recommend good path's near me?
