The roads in that town continuously straight, running North-South and East-West 1 mile apart in a near perfect patchwork pattern. This caused my traveling (West) to be met with a consistent headwind, which I elected to use as 'resistance training'. It was cool. I had to keep my cadence pretty high to stay warm, as I was not dressed for the conditions, but I kept a good tempo and it was quite rewarding. The ride was especially appreciated since my rides tend to get shorter this time of year; what, with the high winds, frigid temps, and bad road conditions/drivers.
Good for you.

Last night, I worked late and then pawed through that BOC I got. It was not nearly as epic as your adventure.

Could be a bank robbery nearby.

. . . there's at least five or six cars. The officers don't seem to be in hot pursuit mode, though.
This is your chance to make a citizens arrest and become a hero

Datlas, is your wed ride an open ride or just club members. Also, where does it start.

OK, a couple police came by and illuminated.

Someone robbed a nearby pharmacy and then switched cars or left the getaway car just a few lots down the street from here.

If the suspect has left, though, I don't know why so many cars are still hanging around here.

I understood the police to say he got in another car a half hour or so ago and went elsewhere. Some of the police have left, and the ones remaining don't seem too anxious (standing around in the street) so I think the coast is clear.

This is the place that got robbed. I don't consider the area to be "rough", though a worker in a cafeteria a few blocks away did get killed in a hold-up a couple months ago.

this is interesting. If i run out of water or food i am never far from a village. if you ride in the desert, is it a problem making sure you have everything you need for a ride?

If I run out of food and water, I have to slaughter a cow and drink it's blood for sustinance. Then get away before the rancher can catch up to me in his pickup.

It's technically a club ride but really anyone is welcome to join us.

Start time is 9AM, downtown west chester - see ride listing under www.westchestercycling.com, it's a blast and you are welcome to join us. PM me if you want/need more details.

In California, there's a town every 40-60mi in pretty much every direction, so that's not usually much of a problem.
