It looks like more bike than I really needed but when I'm looking at dropping $350+ on an IRO frame... |

That fork is like $200+ new, so $275 for the whole deal doesn't seem to bad. I'm not a big Aquila fan, but whatevs. I don't know if I'd want to ride something so bling around the city though, although it seems stupid to vote for the IRO plan instead since technically it'll cost more.
Hmm, this will require further study... *shuffles off to the laboratory* |

I assume not, but is there any racing scenario where one could actually get away w/ rocking an iPod (even if an earbud was just in one ear)? It seems like it could lead to a huge amount of radness, minus the "crashing into other riders you didn't hear coming" part.
It was an 8 hour and Mitch did an extra lap I think. It's not the speed it's the experience there young-uns. Beware 40+ year old racers...they will kick your ass! :p |

Anyone good with a windchill calculator? Windchill is you standing on the corner waiting for the bus. What if you doing 30-40kph into the wind and with the wind? THEN how cold it is it? -14, windchill of -25...then ride 30kph into the wind.

It's like watching a time capsule get cracked open when you guys start talking about the music you like.

It was the skate video effect gone horribly wrong.

So Jr. High, did you secure the Aquilla?
|
Do any of you photographer types know where any good deals on a Canon G7 (new or used) can be had?
To keep it topical - I intend to take photos of BIKES with it! |

Rode in from the east end today, never have I felt that uncomfortably cold - though once warmed up, only my toes/finger tips suffered - going down Kingston Rd. made my head /damn/ cold for a spell, I felt pretty ill at Coxwell/Dundas in fact, but that soon went away. Followed a messenger along Richmond for a couple blocks - big props to the guys out in this crap today - this mornings ride definitely struck me as out of my comfort zone.
I'll have to try and get a morning / evening routine going for stretching - some days, even only doing 40k I feel it in my legs, and I never got consistent with a routine. Thanks for all the tips guys. I've never really been a competitive person, but I do want to run in some races this year. I plan on joining the Randonneur Ontario group for a few rides, for strengthening up and building stamina. Planning to race in Global Gutz and the CMWC events just to test my mettle. I'm under no illusions that I'm not so quick in the grand scheme of things, but as they say, riding against stronger/faster riders only makes you stronger/faster. I want to get out and ride with you guys more. Hopefully the weather does turn around back upto 0C, if so, then I'll post up for a ride this weekend - I was thinking a loop around town and out to Port Credit and back just for some distance/change of scenery. Boston - More than a feeling is an *awesome* track... I have a "Rock Anthems" CD with it on, and among others, so is Alice Coopers' Poison - more recent, but still a great song IMO :D I may or may not have been listening to some T'Pau yesterday too *cough* :p Oh yeah, and that version of Total Eclipse in Old School is awesome, I also really enjoy Will Ferrells' Dust in the Wind cover at Blues funeral. I'm a sucker for 70s rock. |
they were just speaking about the NAHMBS on cbc 1...

For the record technically you are supposed to be/have been a messenger to race CMWC. Not that anyone will stop you.
Anyone know anyone who rides bikes in Boston? I'm going to a conference in April. Still need to get to talking to your bro, Foo. Does anyone (cam, wes) have a foot operated minitape transcription machine I could borrow? Apparently they are worth more than their weight in gold. |
That Aquila went for $340 USD + Ship

I'd say that is a pretty good deal. What does Racer Sportif sell them for in their store?
