With that out of the way, I'm seeing 0% P.O.P. on the Weather Network's site for today which means I'll be in the Don this evening. Anyone want to meet up after work? An earlier meet-up than the DSR would be preferred, but whatever works for the masses. Keith, I saw a guy on the same Kona as you. He had his setup 1x9 with a rigid fork and was totally ga-ga about it. I think I saw two other people on the same model as well but it might have been a 26" version with a really similar paint job. A bunch of us are planning to spend the day at Albion on Monday. Mucho riding! Anyone interested? |

So. Getting grips to stay on. Oury grips on an Easton alloy mtb bar. I've tried:
-alcohol (isopropyl): Parktool.com recommended this, and I didn't have any hairspray. Didn't work. -hairspray: bought some hairspray. No better than the alcohol -3M spray adhesive: This stuck better, but I'm sure once I'm riding for about 15 minutes they'll be loose again since they're still a little squishy near the ends of the bar. What next? Krazy Glue? Rubber cement? JB Weld? :) |

I don't know why I bother reading articles like this.. the comments always totally enrage me.

What about using no bonding substance and sneaking them on with some pressurized air at a shop?
That has worked for me very successfully three times. Just be sure to get someone to hold on the first grip you installed while getting the other one on... I have had it shoot across the room as the air makes its way through the bar and out the other side. |
I saw one of these on the road yesterday: http://bikehugger.com/2007/10/batavus_midnight.htm

JB Weld? :) i put water inside the grip, then empty it, spread the glue on my handlebar (within about an inch of where the edge of the grip would be closest to the stem (i squeeze it on and then spread it with a paper towel) then i put the grip on and twist tie the grip on in like 3 or 4 places ... definitely not going anywhere, ever ... the bit of water and the pressure from the twist ties is what makes it expand and hold are you going to sprints tonight? i have a can of arnold palmer with your name on it |

A bunch of us are planning to spend the day at Albion on Monday. Mucho riding! Anyone interested? Also, if you think there's a way I could get my grabby paws on that little bike of your's for Sunday, please send me a PM. Otherwise, no sweat and we can try to figure out a date next week or whatevs. |
Seriously avoid all the glue and gunk if you can. I have taken them easily of by sliding a chopstick in and working some liquid soap around in there.

That 9pm start time is past my bed time but maybe I'll make it out to sprints at least once this year.

and not just because my professor wrote it. he's turning it into a book, last he told me. "Suddenly, behind me, two guys half my age blast by me on heavy-duty mountain bikes. As they fly past, one of them looks over and hollers the rider’s rebel yell: “Hammmmerrrrrrr!!!” He flashes an ear-to-ear grin before they veer off to invade the north side of Trinity Bellwoods Park. We share the instant endorphin buzz, but their point is made: cycling is all about pure movement, propelled by something I’m still trying to get a grip on." Holy crap.. that could totally have been me! :P Anyone here who's ridden with me knows how readily I yell that at complete strangers! :D

Man, I think I can sing every Raffi song word for word now.
So I should be able to go to the Don anywhere between 5-6, but no sprints. One or the other is as understanding as my wife gets. What time are people, Wes/Mike etc thinking of going? |
The verdict is in.. the new The Black Keys disk kicks butt.
Never used nutterbutter.... good stuff? |

I'm probably going to be there earlier on. I've got to go to the shop first but I'll make a post from there before I head out.

Weel Kathy is sick so not sure about the Don ride tonight. I'll give you a shout Wes if I'm able to make it around 6:30ish.
Going to hit the sprints though I hope. |
