I remember it being especially cold at the beginning when you're doing more standing around listening than riding. Concrete floors+ cleats= cold feet
Not too bad once you have a chance to get out there and ride though.

If you are wearing meshy summer shoes like I was..... thin shoe/toe covers mighn't be a bad idea. Man my feet were cold. Thus far passes to Brad a la lunchish.

My first "real bike" was an early-90s Rocky Mountain Hammer (steel, rigid, full DX, POWER ****ING GRIPS). I loved that thing. This morning I actually started my research on figuring out exactly which model I had. <not a mechanic>I would think that you _should_ be able to get a double working with brifters regardless of pull, as the double brifter gives up plenty of slack (i.e. enough to fall off to the inside of the small ring). Set the high end so that it's in the right place (i,e. so that the high limit screw doesn't do anything), and you should be able to use the low limit screw to hit the right place for the little ring.

EDIT: Also, if it helps, I know that the double brifter for 105 and up has a click's worth of trim adjustment.

My left Campy brifter isn't really "indexed" like the right one. There are clicks, but there's like 15(?) of them, not just 3 like my 105 stuff. It's nice that way as I can trim the front mech as needed to get rid of any chain rub.

My first real bike was a Wicked Fat Chance. Man I would love to have that again, 14 speed (mtb casette with 53-39 rings), dx thumb shifters, mavic ceramic rims and dx hubs. So, so sweet.

I still have sexual dreams with that bike in them.
