I remember it being especially cold at the beginning when you're doing more standing around listening than riding. Concrete floors+ cleats= cold feet
Not too bad once you have a chance to get out there and ride though.

I like malcolm and all...but...it seems a bit presumptuous of someone who doesn't have 25 frames under his belt to be teaching anyone. If you are serious go to UBI ...or Yamaguchi....or someone else with serious experience not only building frames but teaching others how to.

My first "real bike" was an early-90s Rocky Mountain Hammer (steel, rigid, full DX, POWER ****ING GRIPS). I loved that thing. This morning I actually started my research on figuring out exactly which model I had. If I can get another frameset in "grown-up Mike size" I'd love to turn one into a ss winter bike/trip down memory lane.

Is there even such a thing as a friction front shifter anymore (in Brifter form)

EDIT: Also, if it helps, I know that the double brifter for 105 and up has a click's worth of trim adjustment.

My left Campy brifter isn't really "indexed" like the right one. There are clicks, but there's like 15(?) of them, not just 3 like my 105 stuff. It's nice that way as I can trim the front mech as needed to get rid of any chain rub.

ps. yes, those are both from my own Flickr stream.
pps. that was a cappuccino, but the fact that I'm pointing that out probably backs up the espresso-snob side of the coin too. heheheh.

I still have sexual dreams with that bike in them.
