No Island trip for me. Working a BBQ Sunday.
So here is a fun story. Short version is my wife is in Kingston for the weekend, I come home with my folks, borrow moms car and get to my place only to discover I left all my keys in my car, which my wife has, in Kingston. So in the pouring rain I get the step ladder from under the proch, climb on the garage roof, set the ladder up, get on my balcony porch in the back of the house, set it up again, climb onto the 3rd floor roof and shimmy my way across to my rooftop door, which THANK GOD was unlocked. Fun times. |
what is it about keys that can make life so inconvenient? glad to hear you got in alright in the end.
don't know if anyone else got caught in this rain; i can't remember the last time i was that wet than on my way home tonight. actually, once i was soaked it was kind of a nice experience riding in that downpour - all the sewer grates were overflowing and there were these rivulets of water running every which way all over bloor street and every time i rode up a hill i would look down and see all this water flowing towards me and feel like a spawning salmon flowing upstream then tilt my head back and get a mouth full of rain water and feel refreshed. and for a second forgetting about all the adult responsibilities and worries and just feeling the stupid fun like a kid again - good times. |
I was just getting to a buddies place at St Clair/Duff when the 'proper' rain started coming down, shortly after a tree half-broke on his street and we watched the really heavy stuff come down as well as all the lightning - fun times :) Glad I carried my waterproofs for the ride home :p
I'm about to head down to the island, see those of you there! |

Are all the events for the CMWC held on the island? I'd like to check it out but have a pretty busy weekend planned, so something in-town would be perfect.
And yeah, that rain was nuts but damn, I love watching lightning. |

Yeah, I did too. Clearly I should have just ponied up for the $25 wristband for CMWCs so I could hangout at the Steamwhistle Roundhouse. Although, like you said, it was kinda fun once I was soaked and/or warmed up. It was like riding through a 10km long puddle. :P Plus I rode down College St, which is closed to traffic. Straight down the middle, with hordes of people huddled under every awning/etc the whole way through Little Italy. I could feel hundreds of eyes staring at me in shock. :P

Finally got around to installing new brake springs on the back of L'il hauler. Now I should be twice as fast without one pad rubbing! To compensate for that, I also installed a sweet purple ano booster :)

I had my kids out with me in the bike trailer behind my Paddywagon after coming home from Port Dover last night. 70 pounds of kid+the trailer pulled by a fixed gear=great work out for dad. We went to the park and almost got caught in that torrential downpour. We got into our garage just as it came thunderin' down.

CWMC YEAH! What a great way to spend a working day.

Went to the island today. Absolutely amazing. Since I just got into riding fixed this was my first opportunity to see so many fixed gears (or nice bikes in general) in one place. My first trip to the island, too! What a great day. Definitely going back tomorrow.
Oh, ps- any blue jays fans here? I'm going to the 1:00pm game before the island. And I've got an extra ticket! PM me. |
CMCW was lots of fun!
I was in a white polo w/ a grey under the weather bag and then a new racing striped up REload, and a green univega fixed gear, but I spent most of the day walking due to injury. |
i'm thinking of heading over to the island now to catch the sprints and maybe the skid competition now - anyone else heading there? if i'm not mistaken, it's at hanlan's point?

I just got back, it was fun and wet and the clouds were beautiful all afternoon. I guess I will start up a photo thread in the main forum. I would still be there but I hadda help a friend move.

Heh, weird, I was only there for about an hour and a half and most of that was during the rain. Plus, I don't know everyone from the forums, I have met about 10 people now. I was on my all-black road bike with the fruity pink handlebar tape. Someone handed me a route for a huge ride on Tuesday and I think I will be able to make it, we shall see.
Dunno what happened to my photobucket pics, I started a thread in the main forum though and they are still working, although my photography skills bite. http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j1.../Champs082.jpg http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j1.../Champs083.jpg http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j1.../Champs084.jpg http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j1.../Champs121.jpg http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j1.../Champs081.jpg http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j1.../Champs085.jpg http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j1.../Champs086.jpg http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j1.../Champs090.jpg |
