It does look good. I think I'm just going to pick up an IRO though and save myself some cash. Impulse buying a $400 frame isn't exactly the smartest thing to do this time of year I decided.

sweet, other than darkmother in the last half of this year I don't think I saw single IRO on toronto streets... but next year we can represent!

Little bit offtopic but what the hell:
We've each got different requirements and appreciations for different kinds of bikes. High tech, low tech, old, new, Italian, Japanese, whatever. For those of you who would buy a used frameset, what would you realistically be willing to pay for something that was amazing to you?
An auction just ended for a mid-80s 3rensho frameset. $1100 or so USD. That's absolutely insane to me, but then again I'm ****ing broke. What would you all be willing to pay for something that was exactly what you'd been looking for (maybe looking for for years)?
To keep things simple let's say used frame and fork. My limit ... right now .... $400 (CDN).

I paid $400 for my "dream" frameset w/ cranks and a stem. (I still think I overpaid, but meh, its a unique frame in my opinion + the sense of security dealing with a BF member.)
well eyefloat, at least you have a job!
I don't (but I do have allowance yay!)
and I am currently stuck with a frameset, cranks, a stem, and hubs/cog...
I have about... $400 left for everything else.
will I make it?
I need rims, rim tape, tubes & tires, bars, bar tape, 27.0 seatpost (if only it was 27.2), saddle, and pedals...
and I'm going to get cavernmech to build it up for me

wtf kind of currency is ppd?
I guess e-mailing her is the only way to find out

I saw the KHS frame I've been looking for slip by for $350 awhile back ... that came w/ a carbon fork, stem and bars. Stupid no-paycheque week. Where I'm at right now is I've got one utter beater, the shared bike that I'm determined not to ride anymore because my gf gets pissed everytime she has to readjust the seatpost, stem, toeclips, etc. (it's too small for me anyway) and then there's Sputter. I'd like to downgrade Sputter to "winter bike" status, get myself a nice reliable utility bike that I love to ride (ie. IRO Angus) and then slowly chip away at something really nice and unique.
For that my plan is a KHS Aero track. I'm going to find one, powdercoat it British racing green (please oh please with some sassy metal fleck in it), slap a chrome fork on it that matches the rake (preferrably straight blade) and go from there. Given that the Aero Track has a screwy sloped top tube, I have no idea if the 57 will even fit me. I know the 53 will be too small, so this might just end up as a longterm exercise in building a bike for the sake of the process. It'll probably get sold off to someone who can give it a nice home if it doesn't fit. If it does ... well then I'm laughing.
Then of course I'd like to build a 1" pitch path racer ... and a singlespeed mountain bike ... and a cyclocross bike ... and blah blah blah I need more money.

my price range for a used frame (and it would have to be something that I couldn't live without) is probably $350 - $400 cnd max. and even then it's a gamble on it being a perfect fit.
But if I'm love with the bike more for it's geometery I would tend to save up the big coin and get a frame builder to custom build one for me with 'borrowed' geometery specs.. I've always liked the way the GT seat stays meet at the top tube just ahead of the seat post, or the forward sloping top tube of the KHS's.... or a pursuit styled frame with a 650c front wheel. I'd get it built out of titanium or something super light and strong... that'd be sweet and I'd put $1500 - $2000 into a frame like that.
hmm maybe next summer..

. Insurance is too much for me- those companies have you by the short and curlies. Screw up once, and you are going to pay. I somehow managed to get my insurance cancelled-and now it would probably cost me 6 grand a year or some foolishness.

total: ~400. you can get much cheaper tires and cheaper rims to cut it down to 300.

Speaking of insurance foolishness, my sister pays $32 / month for home insurance (she's got an apartment in a highrise). Because I live above a commercial space (read: Kensington Mall) my insurance would be $300 / month. Boo-effing-ourns.

Too bad, cause the largest they have is 57 which is about 2cm too small for me at a minimum.
I hear your pain on finding a half decent frame/fork online. I found a 59 cm Sannino, identical to gokiburi's. The bike shop wanted $1300 USD for the frame and fork alone
There was a cherry 57 cm Sannino pursuit frame that went for $200 USD. makes me weep.I wish I'd jumped on a couple of frames when I started looking about a year and a bit ago. It seems anything remotely my size is priced way out of reach. I'm better off buying a new Marinoni or something...

I'm not really that enthusiastic about the Rossin. Well, check that - I'm not that enthusiastic about the seller. I sent them an email and a message via eBay but I haven't heard anything back. Buying in Toronto would save me shipping but I'd likely catch GST + PST, so I'd still end up over my limit. Besides, those Rossin's are just another (very) nice frame. I'm going to hold out for something else.

[QUOTE=eyefloater]I'm not really that enthusiastic about the Rossin. QUOTE]
I am not sure which one you are looking at but the aluminum Rossin track frames are super sweet bikes. I owned one for 3 hard ridden years...sold it to my buddy 2 years ago and he is still rockin it. Great geo for the street. The steel bike is REALLY steep and has a really short front center....so....major toe overlap on the front wheel. Not a great street bike but nice on the track. The alu version is a really good all arounder.

Give me a shout later on. I'm leaving work now and should be home in an hour. We can work out a time for me to give you that Nishiki Olympic frame.
