Now that you mention it. It wasn't on my radar.

What time does it start? I'll probably fly right over it.

Nope. I mean, I don't really follow the sport, but by all appearances he's one of the best people in the big-sport pro ranks, while also being great at the sport, and yet also great at the rest of life.

Bikes!

On vacation. Not back to work until June 12!

Already been to happy hour.

Now off to PedalFest. Our local mtn bike race series. I'm not racing but friends are.

Will post a pic if I get a good one.

Bah Humbug 05-25-17 06:56 PM

So, WhyFi BillyD, that whole "I'm done with lenses" thing? Totally forgot about the Venus Laowa 15mm macro. Probably not until well later this year, and maybe on a used a7 of some sort for the focus peaking, but holy crap those images are amazing and completely different from anything else you can make.

Sounds awesome. I need to take a vacation; haven't in forever. At least it's finally a long weekend again. And lots going on - we may hit the firefighting museum, and it's CapTexTri. AG may be doing the run leg. I will have pics.

My wife and I went for a ride with our local club and I sat in the back just spinning my legs. It was a beautiful night and was really enjoying riding alone in the back of the group. The only person to talk to was myself and even though I didn't say much, I agreed with everything I said to myself. Anyway, I was really having a good time.

Right before we took a break about 15 miles in, my Propel started shifting wonky. It threw a fit last Sunday on a ride but seemed to smooth out and I forgot about it. This time, the chain kept jumping back an forth every time I shifted and couldn't seem to settle on a gear. I thought maybe some energy drink had gummed up the cables under the BB so I preceded to clean the cable guides at the stop.

Got back on the bike and shifted once and the rear cable went Kapow! Rode 10 miles in 39x11 gear back to the car.

Checked the journal and the cable had 7,007 miles on it when it broke inside the Ultegra 6800 11 speed shifters.

Oddly enough, it was still a beautiful night for a ride even in the 39x11. :thumb:

It's not all vacation for me. We'll chill at home this weekend, then a week over at the island starting Monday. Mountain biking over there, some friends are joining us.

Then I head to D.C. for a conference.

Then we get the puppy.

:)

Warning, bike talk ahead:

Broke a spoke during my ride. Heard a loud noise, wondered where it came from. Couldn't see anything wrong so I just kept going. Eventually someone in the group decided to inform me that my rear wheel was wobbling around like crazy. Rode back, took it to the LBS and now the wheel is back to working as a 30 year old wheel should.

Agree on it being a nice day for a ride, even with a broken spoke. Only got honked twice and everything. :)

PepeM 05-25-17 07:09 PM

Btw, they charged me $1.80 for the spoke. Just checked online and I can get spokes for less than a dollar. Did they rip me off?

This is my typical experience on the Allez with 6700 every few months.

Got a box of 100 cables I may use up eventually.

Was it special order?

PepeM 05-25-17 07:29 PM

It was like ten minutes before closing time so I think they should have given me a discount. Last sale of the day and everything.

You didn't notice the wobbly wheel?

Did they charge you labor to install the spoke and true the wheel?

No. Tbh, even when I knew it was like that I still couldn't feel a thing. I could hear the brake rub when going super slow, otherwise nothing.

They did. Should they have installed it for free? I bought the part from them after all, for much more than the street price.
