Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Agreed. If you have an extra $1900 sitting around and ride a 54, Excel still has a few scratched S2s from last year.

They had a scuffed 61 for the longest time, I resisted. It would have been nice, but it ain't no Scattante.

They sold their last scratched 56 two weeks ago. I was relieved it was finally over. That bike taunted me.

I think that's painfully obvious, but draw your own conclusions.

You need to go 25 mph for an hour... I can't (yet), but I'm told by the nazi's I need to.
It was my old road bike, since I now have my BMC I slapped on the clip ons I requested as a gift last Bday. I have a tri saddle and have moved it foward and up quite a bit. Now I kinda wish the bars were lower but I am out of spacers to remove so I either need a -17* stem or raise the saddle more. We shall see.

25+ is a pipe dream for most, but someday I will do one of the ominums/stage races up north a bit and figure practicing the TT stuff now would be better than at the last minute

The super short workouts are also nice when the wife needs you back home quickly.

On Wednesday an Alberta Clipper is supposed to roll through here causing the high temperature to plummet to 85F.

The high temperature has been at least 90F 17 of the last 18 days.

There hasn't been a lot of Bikes Direct hatred around here (BF) of late. Used to be that the mere mention of BD would create a thread 10+ pages long. Then it was anything with the word Fred in the thread title. I wonder what's changed? Have BFers finally accepted that they are indeed Freds through and through and no longer able to muster the delusion necessary to deny it any more?

So my Dad finally gets high speed (sort of) Internet in Greece. Friggin DSL. Took him 10 years to get a DSL hookup from the Greek Stone Age Phone Company. Now he's hemming and hawing about whether the wireless router (50 euros) is worth it that would allow everybody (him, all his guests) to hook up to the web on their laptops without a wire. I'm smack him but I'm too far away and he's too old. God help me. Well, at least he got DSL. It was dial up the last time we were there. Ooofaaaa.

Greece is so third world in so many ways. And the half the people who live there seem to think it's a modern Euro country. And in some ways, it is. In some ways. In other ways it hasn't changed in 50 years.

Should I be concerned? I find that I'm a little too enthusiastic about buying another bike... for my wife. I'll probably never put in more than one lap around the block on the thing. Is Addiction setting in?
