no clue. but after someone just spent about 1800 bucks at the store, you would think they'd include the 5 minutes of labor, instead they installed platform pedals on it. YES... they installed pedals on it, just not the ones he wanted for it.

When the LBS screws my friends or family it usually means I can expect a deep discount on my next purchase.

whoa !

That's one thing all this dental work and surgery has done for me. Dentists don't scare me anymore. I hate going, but not because I'm afraid of them.

mzeffex 07-27-10 06:26 PM

Got fitted tonight. Seems OK, but kind of annoying that the saddle is now a bit far back on the rails.

heckler 07-27-10 06:27 PM

Not sure if this had been posted elsewhere, But the pictures really make it.

As far as LBSes, mine is awesome. I just went on a group ride today and met a guy I didn't know. He was a Tri-guy (but on a road bike). He was wearing a Felt brand kit and riding a Felt, brands my LBS doesn't carry, but brought up a local Tri series I had considered before put on by the LBS. I said I had considered it but even the sprint distance was like $80 and crits and RRs are only $25-30. He said yeah He wanted to try one out and the LBS paid his entrance fee.

So a guy they have no affiliation with (they sponser multiple teams, but he belongs to none) that didn't even buy a bike or clothes at their store, the manager helped out with the $80 fee just to get someone involved in the sport. I think that is impressive and made me like them even more. Granted they may have been trying to woo him onto a team (he placed 4th in one of the prior events, his first), but still pretty amazing. I will add that you have free lifetime labor on any parts bought in their store including bikes (which is almost bad because people bring in flat tires to "fix"), this is why I steer all new riders there, anything out of adjustment or any problems fixed free of charge. You get 15% off assosories when you purchase a bike. The manager kept applying the discount for serveral months after my purchase. Just impressive all around and very nice (only a few idiots that work there).

wow. sick and so sad that the dog was that trusting after they tried choking it then trying to break its neck then just stayed still for a knife gahhh

And while I don't mean to be insensitive who the heck throws out a dog (actually 2)??? Even if my dog died of normal reasons who the heck throws out a body?

mzeffex 07-27-10 06:57 PM

I get really depressed when my bike is in bad shape.

Anyone else?

For example, with the shredded bar tape + saddle I'm sad. Assuming everything goes through as planned, come friday I'll have the new stuff on it.

The same type of person who does this.

All morbid, all the time.

My LBS installed pedals I bought on the internet at no extra charge, when I took my bike in for a tune up. When I picked the bike up, I bought some shoes and he installed the cleats for free.

mzeffex 07-27-10 07:07 PM

There's actually four things upsetting me now.

Saddle

Bar tape

MRI with injection thing.

Other stupid test with bubbles injected.

The closest bike shop to me is a commuter/hipster shop. There is one awesome mechanic (who I think is the only full time guy, rest being part), then a bunch of arrogant bastards who think people should be impressed because they get paid minimum wage to do things you could learn to do in 30 minutes of your spare time. Plus they are priced over MSRP. I don't go there except in emergencies, and hope to deal with the awesome wrench.

(city bikes in dc, for you locals)

My wife saw how much I liked Bobke's rather direct commentary on the TdF and bought me this.

From Bobke's list of 51 things to do before you die:

"Ride naked at 3am past your local police station, with a Walkman duct taped to your left butt cheek, listening to "The Sound of Music".

"Ride a Ducati motorcycle - the summation of two wheeled motorized nirvana."

Can't say I'm likely to try all of them, but I have always admired Ducati's.

Edit: skimming... found another nice quote: "Healthy, wealthy and wise is for ambassadors and Republican presidents, not bike racers. You need to be sick, poor and stupid."
