Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Bikes: 2006 Specialized Tarmac Comp 2001 Allez (steel)

My bikes are always worth more than the wheels on my car. Not saying much. Who washes their car anyway?!

Auto drivers treat me better when I’m cycling than I treat cyclists or pedestrians when I’m driving.

I’m cutting back. I’m down to three bikes.

I dress in mixed metaphors:
Cannondale jerseys with Fox board shorts,
Or Specialized cycling shorts with Helly Hanson base layers. It’s just wrong.

I like to speak chicken. It's a very complex lingual task. You have to roll your tongue more than you'd expect.

I like traffic lights.

But only when they're green.

I read this whole thread and this is my first post.

I joined up to bike forums so I could see the 'hidden' photos of people's bikes that aren't displayed in their posts and get a dirty little thrill while at work (slippery slope I know)

I identify with far too many posts on this site.

• i have a specialized fixed gear on lay away for a year already at this local LBS... that makes me sad...
• my sister bought me my latest pair of cycling shoes... i told my friends that i got some dude to buy them for me...

I don't realise either.

I almost fell off my bike laughing when my riding buddy started singing in harmony.

Yes I realize this, it has been pointed out many times in this forum. Let's just say that I can survive quite nicely without taking those steps and atthis age, I just would rather learn about something else.

I'm a vegitarian, and I still like chickens. I just don't eat 'em.

The LA Chicken Police are gonna be on to you now!

[/QUOTE]

That was such a good show back in the day. They put Charlie's Angels in the same time slot and it couldn't compete. I can still get it on Nickelodeon.

In this the final episode of Chicken Police, the undercover chicken realistically disguised as a common "barnyard walker" goes all out to entrap a "john". The final scene is set up by the most exciting rabbit on rabbit chase scene ever filmed.

UHUH!
Why "the law" thinks bikes should fall under the same rules as cars is beyond me.
On my bike I think a bout my safety and other's safety while going as fast and smooth as possible ... the rules I couldn't care less about tbh.

If that's what you want it for, do it right and get a tall bike.

Bikes: A trek

I hadn't shaved my face in like 6 days+, what reminded me of doing it was that I had just shaved my legs.

My confession is so shocking, so abhorrent, that I signed up for a new BF account so I could confess anonymously.

I'm 6'0". My weight at one point got up to 205 lbs. I took up cycling 8 years ago, and managed to get down to between 175-180 for the last two years. I was stuck, however, and couldn't/didn't lose any more. My favorite thing to do is climbing, and I despaired, because I weighed too much ever to be any good at it.

In April, I snuck off to a doctor I found in the Yellow Pages that does 'medical weight loss'. There a nurse practitioner gave me a cursory examination. She raised an eyebrow at my seeking treatment with a BMI of 24, however she nonetheless prescribed phentermine, 37.5 mg, one pill every AM. That's an appetite suppressant, the phen in fen-phen. I've been taking it ever since. I haven't told a soul, not even my wife.

So, that is my confession.
