With a little leg power and a my front brake. I ride around w/ my six year old in tow so I have to have a definite means of braking. I don't plan on riding my bike forever w/ out straps and clips. I just haven't had time to think about it let alone ride my bike as often as I would like.

I looked at the bike and there's a brake on it, but still... :D

*edit* I read this as "I ride around w/ my six year old in tow so I have a definite means of braking."

unless the rider lowers it and raises it for different purposes. just a possibility.

Same difference.lol. I'm so busy w/ work right now, but hopefully when school starts up again next week the weather will be nice enough to ride it to school.

looks to me like it serves as the connector between the fork tube and the handlebars...thereby providing a means of steering...theres a definate purpose there...

ha, yeah, I know. My tacky winter gloves grips the bare metal better. Half wrap in the summer. I got but plugs in the ends for now.

My 2006 Surly Karate Monkey. I had it built up by my local LBS (Boulevard Bikes in Chicago). I wanted a "townie" type bike w/an upright ride, single speed. This is my first fully new bike in a long time. My favorites are the Schwalbe Big Apple tires--they're like riding on a cloud. I don't have the specs w/me, but I'll post them soon. There's nothing fancy on it--mid to low level parts to keep the cost down. It's really fun to ride and given the versatility of the frameset I'm hoping to play around w/it to get some different combos (gears/drops, etc.). I'll add a black chainguard and I want to replace the nice looking but way too brittle cork grips w/some leather ones I just ordered. Plus, of course, it's now got a compliment of lights.
