breakfast

I like the tortilla/PB/banana solution. Maybe orange juice before you go and the wrap cut in pieces so you can eat one or two while riding if you need energy before arriving at work? 04.30 sounds early and not fun, but I know from my own experience that if you manage to get enough sleep it is more doable.

a half a banana at a minimum. occasionally, i have a small bowl of organic cerial and soy milk. i fix an organic peanut butter and jelly sandwich for when i arrive at the office.
i am very careful what i put in my body. lot's of organic food and juices. my favorite drink is wheat grass juice and wash it down with carrot juice. this makes for a strong immune system. haven't been sick in over 20 years. never even have headaches... my motto is: eat to live not live to eat.
you will be surpised what you can acquire a test for if you eat enough of anything...lol
ride safe,

No food before I leave, just a glass of water. I get up at 6:00 am and out the door at 6:20 am and I'm just not going to get up earlier. At work I then fix some miso soup with either tofu or an egg and a banana. In the summer I sometimes switch to super wheat bread & peanut butter and a banana. Or sometimes steel cut oats for a change (and of course...a banana).

Oh no, not another what's for breakfast thread...
Oatmeal is filling at takes 15 minutes to make and eat or 7 minutes and toss in an insulated thermos.
Now, maybe the next thread should be when to drop the kids off...

Not the popular choice, to be sure, but I can always count on Carnation Instant Breakfast drinks ( I see the site is "under construction", try later) with lots of Maltodextrin, and protein, etc.. This, plus something to tide the hunger, i.e. a banana and bran muffin, does the trick.

I have an egg sandwich (egg, whole wheat english muffin, and cheese), orange juice, and milk. After my 19 mile ride to school i have a banana as soon as i get in, and sometimes a fiber bar depending on how hungry i am. I also have a Cliff bar and an orange for a snack between that and lunch.

Back when I was an everyday commuter I'd have a pop-tart and a glass of milk, or oatmeal in the colder weather. Once I got to work I'd usually grab a breakfast burrito and a Pepsi.
I usually had a lunch that consisted of small snackables that I'd start in on around 11 am thru 1 pm. Then a banana just before I headed home.

Doesn't anyone around here just eat milk and cereal for breakfast? That's what I eat most of the time. It's quick to prepare, tastes good and fills me up. I buy healthy cereals made with whole grains and dried fruit and nuts. Sometimes I have oatmeal or frozen waffles with yogurt for variety. Eggs take too long to cook and clean up, and I usually don't have a taste for them when I first get up.

I always eat breakfast, but it's after my ride. I don't like riding with a full stomach. This morning, I had a banana, a small tangerine, and a nature valley granola bar pack (2 in the pack). That's been pretty common for this past month or so. I used to just eat a muffin, but sometimes I get a full on breakfast sandwich. (egg/cheese croissant), or breakfast burrito. I also have a box of oatmeal in my desk drawer, but I got tired of it after a couple days.

Okay, now I feel better; I'm not the only one who waits to the last minute to get out of bed and get on the road (at 0630), and then eats at work. Besides, with a 10 mile commute, one way, I would have to get up at 0500 to have time to let breakfast digest, and I would still need a snack once I got to work.
That being said, I have a stash of granola bars in my desk, and I'll have one of those and a piece of fruit (orange, banana, apple) and a cup of coffee. I usually get a glass of orange juice in me before I leave the house. If the wife or I have made some baked good, I'll stuff one or two (depending on what they are) in a rubbermaid container for the ride in.
Does anyone know how well oatmeal reheats in the microwave? I love steal cut oats (with buttermilk and brown sugar, thank you), but haven't tried making them up the night before and then nuking them at work.

I use a slow cooker to make oatmeal (steel-cut, steel-cut groats, and whole groats) every other day. I make enough to serve my family for two days, and we heat leftovers in the microwave. It works just fine; just add a bit of liquid to restore that velvety texture.

I show up to work and leave when I want; as long as I average 8+ hours a day over the week, and I get my work done, it's fine, and AFAIK nobody's actually keeping track of when I'm here.

I don't eat before I leave. Just wake up, put on the clothes, brush my teeth and drink a glass of water before heading out the door.
I'll usually have 2-3 packets of instant oatmeal after my shower @ work. (1 flavored + N of plain). I'm wanting to switch to a healthier oatmeal, but these packets are to easy to keep at my desk.
Around 10ish I'll have a snack, and then a lunch of whatever @ 12.
Yogurt or another snack around 2-3, and then dinner when I get home around 6.

. I leave at 4am, gets me out ahead of all the late sleepers.. but home before usually too.
