Road Nazi Ride! With wreckage!
No, I didn't cause it.
Two or three guys got tangled up about four spots ahead of me. Fortunately it was during the warm-up area between stoplights rather than at full speed on the open road. No notable injuries, minor bike damage.
I made it a little bit farther with the pack tonight.
Still, I stink. Obviously some of it is horse power and not being able to accelerate at pivotal moments. But some of it is still not being familiar/comfortable with the group dynamic.
It's a different animal than solo. And it gives me a hefty dosage of self-loathing.

I want people to ride with
anybody had Lyme disease? I got bit by a tick last Saturday, got a bit of a rash and my Dr. put me on a course of antibiotics.
I may or may not have the infection, but I've added it to the quiver of excuses. Do antibiotics make you slower? (there's another one).

I've had that circular rash at two different times after getting bitten, but I was on stuff right away so I never had any real problems.
BTW, 30 mile ride this morning, 8 mile run tonight. Triathlon is possibly one of the few things even more stupid than cycling.

It gets easier the more comfort you have. You ride closer and whatnot. Earlier in the year I would have like 18" from wheels know when they crank it up I spend a alot of time <6", which helps at speed. Of course this is on flats where this is a huge consideration, not sure how I would do on a group ride through hills.
I've done a few. I think it would be better if they made the swimming at the end. It would make people really put some thought into wether they really want to try a triathlon. Less people to pass on the bike that way.

Sweet! I could sign up for one, swim, bike, and then drop out before the running!
I thought it was run > bike > swim. That would have made my plan impossible.
I was never a very good swimmer, not bad, but not very efficient. I would always get out of the water pretty exhausted so my bike split would suffer, although it was still pretty good. So I stopped doing tris and started doing time trials. Those got boring, so I started racing bikes.
I try to save people the trouble of doing tri's and make them skip straight to bike racing.
I only say that because it's not too hard to pass the 250+lb lawyer on a P3 when you have to do multiple 10 mile loops.
I've thought about bike racing, but decided I'm not committed enough to be the type of guy to race every week. I like doing my own thing, so having that sort of schedule and being on a team is just too much for me.

This isn't a very tight paceline in the back (where I was). The rotation breaks down, people pass in both lanes, people ride off center and/or between the lanes.
It doesn't help when you're not completely sure what the rider in front of you or beside you may do next.
6". Yikes.

Come to Ohio
Actually, end of August I'm riding with a good buddy from out of town if you're up this way....
