I spent the day filling a ditch. I show up here, read three posts and I feel like a genius.

WHOOOSSHHH, more power to you for sticking with it. Believe me, it is pretty easy to eventually alienate anyone that cares for you when one goes down the addiction path.

As one has been on both sides of this gig, you, and now RUOkie, have/had a tough road ahead, and it is never, ever, pretty. I wish I had some advice, but every situation is different, and changing course on the fly is key.

Continued success in your situation, and as mentioned by all, best of thoughts RUOkie's way.

Only reason I've been outside the past few days is to let the dogs out. I have no idea what the temperatures have been.

Guns are so stupid.

If that man doesn't go to jail I bet he kills himself within a month. Either that or drinks himself to death.

That's terrible. However, guns aren't stupid. People are stupid.

RUOkie 12-09-12 06:21 PM

Lots of good people here. Thanks. And I determined today that I certainly have mental issues. I went for a ride in the cold rain. Turned around since I was cold (I did not dress properly). Instead of getting warm, I went for a run.

OK, I'm not Dr. Phil, but beauty is skin deep. Possessing great looks for a man or woman is icing on the cake, it's the qualities/values that count and how you are being treated. "Most women have mental issues" is a pretty bold statement. Ya know, there's lots of women out there and I'm sure you haven't met them all. No one is perfect even though we'd like to have all the qualities wrapped up in one package. I personally would choose to be by myself than to deal with someone who is not willing to help themselves in the way of "mental issues" or to listen to your feelings. If my mother calls and leaves a message, she doesn't wait for me to return the call - she keeps on calling. That ticks me off. I call back when I have time. Sounds like perhaps your girlfriend feels like you are smothering her. Everyone needs to have their own space. How many times did you call? After you returned her call and left a message, wait for her to return the call. If she was dead, you'd see it on the news :). Like I said before, this time of the year is stressful and having an ill father, makes it worse. Listen to your heart!

Yeah, honestly she isn't that attractive. I give her about a 8.5/10. That isn't what draws me to her. Since the first day we met, we've been great friends. We just have a connection like that. I think we were probably like 12yrs old. Well off and on we were friends. There were times when we were apart for years. Even after that when we would reunite, it would be like not a day had passed.

I wasn't smothering her by any means. She called me at 6:48, I called back at 7:38 when I saw she called. I didn't txt her until 9:48, and again at 11:16 before I went to bed. Reasonable I'd say. I txted her again at 8:20am after my leg press workout. She didn't respond until 9:10 I think. So I had no contact with her from 6:48pm-9:10am. Definitely reason to be alarmed. She also lives 1:20 away, so I worry a bit more than if she lived around the corner.

Sorry if the mental issue sentence offended you. That is why I used the word most. I do know a few level headed women, they are definitely the minority however. You seem pretty level headed, as does TS, and Makel. Hell we all have issues. I am no saint. I'd like to think I am a great boyfriend, however. I've really been there for my girlfriend in a lot of ways. Helping with her depression, and her day, and all that. I'd literally do almost anything for her. I've really put my life to the sideline a bit recently to help her, and it will be nice to focus on myself a bit. We've decided to go back to just dating at this point. Which I am okay with. We've both rushed into this a bit too fast, we both admit. I stole her away from a ****ty relationship, and she has had many of those prior. So I will no longer be referring to her as Ms. Solo, or my girlfriend. She is just a girl I am dating at this point. I am okay with that. I am pretty confident if I back off she will realize how good of a bf, I am. So I am not selling the Ruby just yet.

I know people cling to their guns, and I don't have a major problem if you want a rifle or a shotgun to kill Bambi, target practice, or for protection.

But I really think we should reconsider if this should apply to handguns.

LesterOfPuppets 12-09-12 06:24 PM

I bet way more 9 year olds are killed by cars and we still let people drive them around all day every day.

Too many people who own guns are stupid.

Moreover, a deadly weapon like a firearm is an unforgiving device. You make a mistake with an electric knife, you cut your finger. You make a similar error with a 9mm handgun and you're burying your son.

Cars are useful. Guns only serve a function in the hands of law enforcement or the military. Beyond that they are skullfarked.

And yes, people are stupid. But what's even dumber is letting so many people have so many guns.

Looks like we'll have 9-15" of snow by tomorrow morning. The kid got to play in the snow for the first time. Took the dog out to play in the snow, too. Oh, and my shoes, they're pretty awesome - they make all the difference between enjoying the time outside and absolutely hating it. Previous Timberlands were waterproof, but not insulated or otherwise comfy.

Snow was probably about 6-8" deep at this point.

Having guns doesn't make me want to drink nearly as much as reading your posts.

I watched some reality show of people living in Alaska and surviving off of what they can gather by fishing and hunting yesterday. Guns are good for them.

I have not found one to be necessary to bring down a package of meat at Safeway though.

You sound like a commie you know.

I do keep a Mossberg in the bedroom closet. It is not for hunting food.

More for making a scary sound should I be awakened in the night by someone downstairs that was not invited..... and protection during the zombie apocalypse.
