Zigactly. I was crushed when my boys drafted Wilson. Round one, get beef. I'm really hoping we get Cardale, this year or next, mid-rounds, and keep him on ice for three years. That's how you get a quarterback. Winston and Mariota will both let their teams down.

Yeah they're pretty confident guys. They've taken to nesting on skyscrapers recently, brought home several years ago by a pair nesting on a skyscraper ledge right off Central Park in NY. They were all the rave in the city that year, Pale Male was the male's given name.

This is what you call beating the bushes for a meal, literally.
Harriers hunt close to the ground, using both their hearing and vision, and when they hear something . . . .
Not the greatest shot, this is from long distance, but I love these guys, they are so interesting to watch.
I know what you mean about "not the greatest", but yet it's the best I've seen on a forum.

Hey @datlas, that "disaster" case from earlier today supposedly has Cushing's disease. I don't know because I didn't get that part of the medical record, still working on getting it sent. The internist who is treating the dog is treating with flaxseed and melatonin. Seems kind of quacky to me. I'm gonna have to ask internal med about that one. Trilostane is the typical treatment for dogs. Interesting IM factoid: Cushing's disease is super common in dogs.

Interesting. We don't see Cushing's much in humans, and the treatment 98% of the time is surgical resection of the adrenal tumor. I did not know it's more common in dogs.
Of course, we see iatrogenic cushing's syndrome more often, from use of steroids.
p.s. I had to look up trilostane, I figured it was some type of cortisol blocker or inhibitor of its synthesis...it was apparently used in humans in the past but withdrawn from the usa market in 1994.

Appreciate the feedback 2mb and Hummer, I didn't anticipate that pic's appeal.

About a year before the end one of my vets suggested Moose's condition might be Cushings. Who knows? Everyone else saw it as hypothyroidism.

Winston can generate facial expressions that convey absolute dumbfoundment better than anyone else that I've seen in recent memory. I admit that I haven't actually seen him play, but the dumb looks and crab legs alone make me glad that the Vikings are no longer in such a QB-needy position.

Oh, it's ok; I think of him every day anyway. Been nearly a decade; I don't think that will change.
Just the one cat, actually. He's had... less than positive experiences every time I've moved him somewhere with another cat, so no additions while I have him.

Meanwhile, Mariota looks like he'd break in half by the end of year two.

I know that you don't like the football talk, @Heathpack, but changing the subject to dead pets is a low blow.

This is the only thing that worries me about Teddy. He does seem to have good pocket sense and movement, but I still hope he puts on a little more meat.

She was also funny because she was obsessed with shadows, I think she confused them with birds. She loved to swim but was not buoyant like all my friends dogs, super skinny. If you took her to the beach and asked her where China was, she'd start digging a hole.
Haha one day I came home and no dogs at the door. She & my roommates black lab were sitting casually on the couch, legs crossed, as if nothing was up, she just didn't happen to hear me come home. So funny because she & the lab were covered head to toe in flour. They'd gotten into the pantry and the lab (who would eat anything) ate five pounds of flour. He was pretty sick from it. My dog was fine, I think she was just curious as to what he was doing and got inadvertently in the flour cloud.
That dog was 100% game for anything- especially if it involved running around in circles for hours. Hiking, swimming, boating, kite-flying, butterfly chasing, ice cream eating, etc. Never met anyone she didn't like. Well, she was always kind of afraid of Mr H, he never really liked her and she could tell. Truthfully she was pretty slobbery and hairy and exuberant.
Anyway, she eventually died of complications of a kind of uncommon tumor, an insulinoma. This tumor type secretes insulin spontaneously and makes the blood sugar low. Kind of sad in the end, because it sapped her energy and energy was this dog's defining element. But happy happy happy dog, never complained about one thing ever in her whole life. In turn, I had zero complaints about her. Just a totally good dog.
