trust me. i rode on a suicide hub that i fixed using jb weld. worked awesome.
this is after loctite failed for me, both colors.

and that's only from light use.

campy straps are so much better, but are also three times the cost.

a little slack is a good thing, and it sounds like it's really too tight and that's why it's rattling side to side and not spinning on its own.

unless you want to just take the crank bolts off and ride the bike until the cranks fall off; but trust me, it's a lot easier to just buy a crank puller.
