Exactly hit my power target for my TT today, rode my splits well, and PRed it by 3 seconds.
But I'm still kind of annoyed because I came in third out of four.
Mind you, the field was comprised solely of state TT champions (three different age groups and one TTT champ), but still. They are exactly who I should be racing against, the competition is appropriate.
Gotta get faster, I guess.

So the mtb ride was really fun, wow that's a nice trail!
We wound up riding McGill and Jump trails at Mt Pinos in Frazier Park. It was "only" 5ish miles up, I mistakenly thought we were riding the fire road to the peak, which is after the trails. But the plan was always to just ride McGill & Jump.
McGill is steep, I think I looked at my Garmin to see we'd climbed 1200 ft in the first 2.7 miles. My legs were toast, I had to walk a lot of the steep bits.
It was warm enough at the start of the climb but we worked our way up to almost 8000 ft elevation & it was around 50F at the top. Went up in shorts and a short-sleeve jersey. Going down I added tights, a wool base layer arm warmers and a vest.
It went pretty well, the trail is more flowy than technical, really lovely. The biggest challenge is lots off narrow off-camber trail cut into the steep hillside. Definitely significant potential for sliding down the mountain. But I was kind of getting the hang of it in the end.
10 miles & 1800 ft of climbing. Rest day tomorrow, so ready for this one.

I was up most of the night and missed my usual Sunday AM ride but hit Mt Hollywood after lunch instead.
It was the usual zoo of tourists, dogs off leash, horses, and kamikaze riders... especially this late in the day.

You should hit up Pinos before it snows up there. Definitely worth the drive- 45 min for me, Im guess 1:10ish for you. If the family is ok with hiking, they could hit up the trails too.

From what I gather, if the integrity of the bond between the original epoxy and the CF mat has been disturbed, just inject epoxy likely won't have much effect as the damage probably goes much further into the wheel than what you can see. You really need to wrap new CF and epoxy well over the damage, rather like they do with frame repairs, but on wheels, that's a next-to-impossible ask.

Part of it is that the old QBs are all starting to look old. There was a stat after the first two weeks that the group of QBs drafted through 2004 (Brady, Brees, Eli, Ben, Rivers, and maybe one or two others) had more picks than touchdowns, combined.
And it just drives home how much all the preseason talk is. Remember when the Pats were going to be unstoppable 19-0 juggernauts? And while I'm not saying they're "really" 1-3, they nearly lost last week too against the Texans, who they normally crush like ants.

Thanks for the feedback on the wheel crack, gang. To get one more opinion, I did send a short email and pictures to Williams and will let you know what they say. The wheel works great otherwise so I don't know if it's worth sending it back for them to rebuild with a new rim or just start all over.

Today, I'm doing electrical work that I would normally hire out. If you want it done right......A big part of the problem is language, but culture comes into play as well. After this week of work, I'll consider myself well versed on my own house's electrical system. A good thing.

One thing about workers here. They will rarely (ever?) tell you it's better to do it this way. You have to be very precise in what you ask for, and if you are not well versed in the subject at hand, the results show it. It's a long learning process and now, ten years into it, I pretty much do it myself if I have the confidence.
