Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Today I went to my local bike shop and sulked with my broken bones, gazing at the awesome road bikes. I really want a harry havnoonian frame set. They even have some in my size *sigh* but are too expensive for me.

Bikes: tirove

i rode to the store and got some gossamer cranks and a rear hub and some park precision spoke wrenches. was gonna get spokes but realized i don't know which ERD of CXP-22s to use because they make so many versions.

also got a flat at a shopping center. decided to treat myself to a cupcake to help ease the ragequit. got a coffee, fixed the flat and as i was remounting the tire saw this beautiful girl walk by, then saw her as i passed a bus stop once rolling, then saw her as she crossed the bike path after getting off the bus less than ten blocks away. she didn't wave back or give me eye contact any of those times though, so **** her.

also all of this was on the cross bike. picked up some linseed oil to build wheels with, and then stopped by performance to get a new tube(other stores close earlier) and ended up test riding a new 2010 cross pro with rival. ****, i love that bike. the bars were set up stupid funky(bars angled up, super low front hanging hoods... very weird) and i decided not to waste money and not be able to sell enough of my bikes to recoup...

came home, ended up relacing my bontrager paired spoke race light front with the nipples off my old dp18, it worked pretty well but those paired radial spokes are a ***** to true. so temperamental.

then made a banana split run while my roomies played poker, ate spiltz and now winding down for the work week.

and getting ****ing stoked on Des Ark and Mogwai's latest albums.

Sucks man, totally agree. It's probably going to hurt having to get off my meds when I have to. Have you thought of going to a place for detox? You seem to have the willpower to at least WANT to quit, and you don't seem to want to keep on doing what you're doing, because you are regretting it...Keep an eye out for a detox/clean and clean and sober home for a bit, it may be worth your while, ya know?

I wore the nice and I presume expensive hipster outfit my wife bought for me today. It consisted of a tailored tweed suit a trvr cap and pair of oxford shoes with all the trimmings. I looked good and got a bunch of compliments. The word "joke" kept passing trough my mind nonetheless.

Today I got a good ride in, even though the weather was not the greatest. Tomorrow's weather is supposed to be bad and I still plan on getting a road ride in.
