Roadie vs. overpowered e-scooter rider. Both dead. Terrible.

Just look at what's left of the bike. Scary:

It’s funny, I enjoyed both careers, but when someone asks what I did I answer some people with the white collar job and other people with the blue collar job, depending on some undefined calculation in my head.

Anyway, at engineering conventions, when people asked, I just called myself a construction manager or construction engineer where licensed engineers don't get their hackles up or look down their nose at those titles. With regular people, I use my actual engineering title.

Bikeflights used to be very easy to deal with when it started out. Now that it has grown so big, not that much. I had to call twice (because of website issues) and speak to a woman who I believe is located in Germany. (I think she was using the fake name of "Patricia". I even got that European-sounding ring tone.) Not the first time I have had problems with their site. And since it switched from FedEx to UPS, the service has become slower.

We are going to Colorado in late July and I am taking my bike, will just pay the $80 each way fare and take the Habanero in the hard-shell case I have.

I want an aero race bike too Sierra_rider rsbob. I'm on a 2022 TCR, with externally wired brake lines. Great road race and training bike, but not the best choice when there are sustained speeds near 30 MPH, which is a lot of the racing around here. Even still, I have a couple of other bikes on my radar, replacing my backup/trainer bike with a steel rig that I can beat up a bit more, and possibly even a new TT bike (frameset), as that aligns with my racing goals a bit more.
A note on Canyon - a local carbon repair guy gets lots of Canyon frames going through.... might not be the best quality. Having said that, a lot of people really, really like the way the Aeroad rides. I have my eyes on a Propel or maybe a Gen8 Madone, whenever that time comes. Might not be till next year.

Congrats on the retirement DougRNS! Does this mean that we can expect the quality of this subforum to appreciably increase?

I used this service to ship my friend's (empty) bike carrier a few months ago. They partnered with UPS so I simply printed out the shipping label and dropped it off at UPS and it went smoothly. Not sure if something changed, or maybe I was lucky and/or you were unlucky.

I've had a few Canyons, never any frame quality issues. At least the areas inside the frame around the seat post, BB, and headset areas look pretty similar to any other modern carbon frame. My only cracked carbon issue I've had, was not actually on one of my Canyons, but on my 2014 Ridley Helium. Just looking inside the frame, I'd think it came out of the same factory as the Chinarellos if I didn't buy it new at a reputable shop. I'm sure the newer Ridleys are much better, but I'd rather not find out.

With two daughters, I may have to brace myself for wedding costs. I have suggested to the kids and mrs datlas that if/when the kids decide to get married, they can go elope and when they get back we can have a family celebration in the backyard with pizzas and beer. I think that would be ideal, but I doubt they would go for it.
